I assume you're rating it out of 10. And I also assume that you're rating it as a horror movie (which it isn't) when you say it didn't effect (sic) you. It didn't affect me either, as in I didn't break down in tears or hide behind my couch, but I actually liked the movie and out of ten I'd give it a 7. I bumped it down a notch for not being too terribly true to the plotline or characters of the comic.

I haven't read any of the comics, so I can't compare it to the fiction. But, when I saw it in theaters, I was mildly entertained. I particularly enjoyed the climactic scenes with the huge tentacles hanging from the sky, and that nasty monster Hellboy had to fight at the end. Those elements were very Lovecraftian (which is always a plus for me), and quite well done. But I was rather disappointed that there was only one monster Hellboy had to fight over and over again (except for the final one). It became repetitive. Plus, (and this is the bane of all superhero films), there was very little suspense at all. You know Hellboy and his pals are going to come out okay in the end ... and the ride to this conclusion wasn't strong enough to keep me very interested.
I rate it a 6.

7 out of 10.
Like other posters have mentioned, I didn't really see it as horror. I was disappointed in the final fight, I thought it end too quickly. But, I liked the movie enough to buy a copy. |
