Carpenter & Blumhouse team for "Halloween"

Must have felt this in my bones when I swung back.

Just like its unstoppable villain Michael Myers, it seems the HALLOWEEN film franchise — which launched in 1978 with John Carpenter’s original classic and spawned seven sequels as well as a remake with its own sequel — was destined to come back to life again.

We’re thrilled to announce that Michael has found a new home at last — thanks to the efforts of Blumhouse founder/CEO Jason Blum, HALLOWEEN franchise producer Malek Akkad, Miramax and Trancas International Films, who have just announced a team-up of historic proportions to bring a new HALLOWEEN to the big screen.

But hang on for the best part…

Tonight’s press gathering included a surprise appearance by none other than the father of HALLOWEEN himself, John Carpenter, who took the stage to confirm that he’s officially signed onto the new film as Executive Producer and Creative Consultant (Blum describes him as “Godfather” of the project), which bodes very well that the film will bring the franchise back in line with his original vision.

I have higher hopes for this than I did for Rob Zombie's reboots, but it's still early. Pleeeeeenty of time to fuck it up all over again.

I'm super excited, but I don't wanna get my hopes too high either. I was very disappointed with RZ's attempts. I don't think I can take anymore disappointment when it comes to my favorite series.

Interesting that Carpenter is on board, I thought he had a considerable disdain for the series. Even if it turns out to be shit I'm grateful to see the series endure.

I'm going to wait to hear more about the direction of this project. You would think after those remakes no one would want to try yet again. With Carpenter working with them that is a plus. But I thought he felt that the story of Halloween 3 was the way the series should continue?

He's had about 30 years to think it over.

I'd rather see Carpenter doing something else. With Kurt Russell. And a big budget. And...

Drea-hea-heam... Dream, dream, dream, dream, drea-hea-hea-heam!
