Oh man, Norton comps are the greatest.

Speaking of great compilation albums, one I think you might really dig is called Shakin' Fit!:

It's a bunch of old dirty, energetic rock 'n roll/R&B/soul dance songs. It's out of print now, but it's not that hard to find online for download if you're interested. I highly recommend it.

-------------------------------------

So I've never really gotten into metal of any sort (no particular reason; I think mainly just lack of exposure), but a friend of mine gave me some newer metal albums to check out:

Celtic Frost- Monotheist

Dissection- Storm of the Light's Bane

Darkthrone- Dark Thrones and Black Flags

This is the only one I've listened to so far, but I was really taken aback by its strong punk roots (before I had even seen the album title, I thought "Wow, this reminds me of Black Flag more than anything.").

---------------------------------------------

DJ Shadow- Endtroducing....

Also been spinning this quite a bit lately, as I recently bought it on vinyl. All I can say is that vinyl is the way this album was meant to be heard. (MissMacabre, you definitely should check out the LP if you don't have it already).

That Darkthrone album is amazing one of the best metal albums I've heard in years!

Love that CF album too it was stuck in my player for quite sometime.... love the really big crushing sound of it.

I'll have a hunt for that comp and let you know what I think.

Yeah, I really enjoyed it. Can't wait to give it a few more listens.
I'm looking forward to checking out the other two.

And I'd love to hear what you think of that Shakin' Fit comp.

Been rockin' Carcass for the first time in ages. Forgot how cool a lot of this shit is...

Heartwork sounds a bit dated these days. Its got that shitty melodic death metal buzz going that has just been done to death over the last 5 or 6 years. Still miles ahead of the bands that play that style these days.
