The Exorcist

Is there a difference between,

The Exorcist (1973) and The Exorcist - the version you've never seen?
Wich one do you think is the best version?

thanks.

The second one has a scene that was cut from the original theatrical release.

They both scare the crap out of me!

There are three major scenses that weren't in the original .The spider walk scene ,extended horpital scene and the end which is on a lighter note in the new version .Personally I prefer the new restored version . There's also a little more incedental music throughout the film .

I was at a HorrorFind covention last year in MD and met the woman who was Linda Blair's stunt double and she was also the one that was made up as Captain Howdy. THAT Captain Howdy make-up really really freaks me out. Her name is Eileen Dietz, she did some interesting things, she was the one who spit the pea soup, did the levitation, and the cross crotch stabbing, I think she did the spider walk also. Because Linda Blair was so young they didn't let her do a lot of the stuff.

I bought a book at her table about the making of the movie, it is awesome, it tells abou the whole movie, what they were trying to show, things they changed, etc. It is a BFI Modern Classics book on The Exorcist (Revised 2nd Edition) by Mark Kermode. BFI Modern Classis is a series of critical studies of films in the last three decades. I bought it at the show so I don't know where else you could get it.

All I know is the book is black with Captain Howdy's face on the cover, it freaks me out so much I have to put the book face down on the table!

'The Version You've Never Seen' is better. Same movie, one more scare.
