Tales from the Darkside

I was pretty young when this was being syndicated on my local Fox affiliate, but this was also back in the days when TV stations still went off the air. That eerie fuzzy "Star Spangled Banner" playing with all those black and white photos of US flags and soldiers..ugh, still creepy just thinking about it.

But nothing was as creepy as being 10 years old and seeing the intro to Tales from the Darkside for the first time.

""Man lives in the sunlit world of what he believes to be reality. But - there is, unseen by most, an underworld. A place that is just as real, but not as brightly lit...a Darkside."

Some of the episodes were just flat out genius, others just slightly fantastic. And of course, some were dumb but the show still retains a charm that many shows of it's era lack. Did anyone else absolutely LOVE this show?

I wasn't a huge fan. I preferred Darkroom and Ray Bradbury Theater.

Loved the show. I never missed it when it was on.

Jodie Foster actually directed an episode.

I recently watched the episode Grandma's Last Wish, and was struck by the bizarre absurdity of it. It seemed like some unintentionally hilarious 80s trash film, which I mean in a good way. I really loved it.

I have nothing but fond memories of "Tales from the Darkside", It was my first taste of horror as a child. Sadly, The intro was the scary part of the show :D

While there is some great episodes, most didn't stand the test of time.
