THE REFLECTING SKIN (1991)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SPOILERS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> After seeing DAD's clip, had to check this out again. Extremely bizarre film which I think is supposed to focus on the travails of childhood although none of the kids here are bargains, especially Seth. He lives with his extremely bizarre parents (especially his Mother-You'll never hear the word "Water" again and not think of how it's used here), becomes convinced that a greiving Widow living nearby is a Vampire and has set her eyes on his returning from war older Brother (A young Viggo Mortensen, very good here; his reaction at the end is powerful indeed). As the budding romance continues to build, Seth tries to intervene, but finds there is a cost to pay... As mentioned, quite bizarre and many people I've shown it to did not like it ("It was Stupid!" was the standard reply; To be sure, not for everyone. But check it out for Yourself. Incredible photography, many quirky characters ("Sheriff Ticker" for one, especially when He's relating to Seth about his Law enforcement career) and truly one of the biggest attention grabbing openings ever. **** |

"The Craft: Legacy" 4-5/10
First half hour was one big cringefest. Rest of the movie wasn't much better and it never really picked up any pacing or tension. I'm clearly not the target audience, which is probably teens (especially females). There was 1 thing I liked though. And nope, it wasn't David Duchovny's wooden acting, but instead the guy playing the bully turned into a sensitive goody two shoes. I thought he was really good and deserved to be in a better movie than this.
