"Mindhunters" (2004) 8-9/10

I don't think i've ever heard of his horror movie before, which is very weird. It has a great cast, a great horror story and the same kind of dialogue as in "Deep Blue Sea. It's easy to tell Mindhunters is made by the same guy who made Deep Blue Sea. You have no idea who will surviver. Or who the killer is for that matter. My only complaint is that the last 10 minutes could've been better.

So if you liked Deep Blue Sea and The Collector see this one. It's on Netflix.

"Entity" (2012) 2/10

A interesting story horribly executed. It's obvious there was only room in the budget for scary sounds. Everytime something visually scary happened the unfocused shaky hand-held camera came into play. Of course. I give this garbage 2 out of 10 only because the acting was surprisingly good.

Note to filmmakers: If you don't have the budget to make a decent horror movie don't make a bad one instead. Just don't make it.

THE LOST (2006). Based on the violent Jack Ketchum novel of a small town sociopath losing his grip on reality and the inevitable rampage. ***
SUPER 8 (2011). Kind of a hybrid of ET/CLOVERFIELD/IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE and a group of kids making a horror film in 1979 (good attention to detail here with authentic songs/props). Really liked this, although I wish there had been more focus on the kids and the movie. ***1/2

Stiches (2012)

8/10

I liked it for what it was. Some parts were funny, the character development was excellent for a film like this. The violence was very creative. The story unique. Definitely an enjoyable B-flick.

Loved it. One of Wes Anderson's absolute best. The cast was amazing and the direction, as usual, was whimsical and wonderful. If you're a Wes Anderson fan, then it's absolutely a must-see for you.

THE LAST WINTER 2006

An oil company base camp in the north is being terrorized mentally and physically but by what? Ron Perlman does a great job in it, the big lug.

Has sort of a slow methodical buildup that reminded me a bit of "The Shining". I really, really enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

I really love Rushmore. I'm a huge Wes Anderson and Rushmore is definitely in my top three or so - I think I'd rank them as such:

1. Darjeeling Limited
2. Tennenbaums
3. Rushmore
4. Grand Budapest Hotel
5. Life Aquatic
6. Bottle Rocket
7. Fantastic Mr. Fox
8. Moonrise Kingdom

If you liked Rushmore, you'd probably like Bottle Rocket; those movies are not as stylized as his later work (some people object to his later style but I really love it).

Forgot to mention that I watched Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (2014). It was actually pretty good; an extension of the lore created in the first three movies. The odd-number movies in the series are definitely the best; 1 & 3 being strong installments and 5 was pretty damn good too. Not as good as 1 & 3 but I was surprised that it actually made me jump a couple of times. I think that this is the only horror franchise that I've actually kept up with.
