For the entire month of October, a small theater in New York is featuring independently-produced scary films. In addition to the indie flicks, the theater promises live emcees hosts (including indie scream queen Debbie Rochon of "Tromeo & Juliet" and "American Nightmare" fame), door prizes, and special guests.

On Friday, October 10, Terry M. West's "Flesh of the Beast" will make its New York premiere. The camp flick (from the director of "Satan's School for Lust" and "The Lord of the G-Strings") tells the story of an occultist who conjures up a brothel-full of demons.

Yip Wai-Shun's "Biozombie" hits the screen on October 14 with a tale of mall-walking teenage zombies. James Bond III's "Def By Temptation", starring Kadeem Harrison and Samuel Jackson will be shown on October 21. On October 28, catch Matt Cunningham's "Decapitated", about seven friends on a camping trip who (surprise!) begin to mysteriously die.

Admission is $6. For showtimes and more information, check the videotheatrenyc website.
