Halloween screenings of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" have been an annual tradition at the El Capitan Theater in Los Angeles for a decade, but this year is extra special. According to Touchtone Pictures, director Tim Burton will join fans to celebrate the film's 10th anniversary.

"The Nightmare Before Christmas", the darkly comic animated tale of Halloweentown meeting Christmastown, was based on a story and characters created by Tim Burton. Stars including Danny Elfman (in a singing role as Jack), Chris Sarandon, Catherine O'Hara, and William Hickey lent their talents to the movie, which has become both a cult classic and a critical darling.

"Nightmare" will play for 4 days only starting on October 16. Burton is expected to appear at the Thursday, October 16 7 pm and 10 pm screenings. In addition to introducing the movie, he'll also be taking questions from the audience. The theater will have props from the movie on display. Prizes will be awarded at each show for the best-costumed audience members.

In other Tim Burton News, Greg's Previews has set October 2005 as the release month for the Burton-produced "The Corpse Bride" - a mere four months after the Burton-directed "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". Directed by newbie Mike Johnson (an animator on Burton's "James and the Giant Peach"), the stop-motion animated "Corpse" is supposedly based on a Russian folk tale. A betrothed young man jokingly puts his beloved's engagement ring on what appears to be a twig sticking out of the ground. In doing so, he's inadvertently wed to a walking female corpse.
