Bloody "Bill" Kills "House"
Ultra-violent Tarantino action flick takes the top; zombie thriller debuts lower.
As expected, "Kill Bill Vol. 1" hit #1 over the weekend, taking in $22.7 million. Volumes 1 & 2 cost a combined $65 million to make plus about that much to promote, so it'll take a few more ticket sales before the movie is in the black. The word-of-mouth has been pretty good on "Bill", so it'll be interesting to see if it can hold onto the #1 spot.
The low-budget game-to-movie "House of the Dead" debuted at #5, bringing in $5.5 million despite little advanced promotion and horrible critical reviews.
