Good news for "Freddy vs. Jason" fans. New Line Cinema is so happy with the box office numbers on the movie that they're already talking about a sequel. In a recent interview with Moviehole, director Ronny Yu would be happy to come back a second time.
"And if they want me back, I’d be happy to come back. The fans really want another one. This time, I think we should split Freddy and Jason up though and bring in someone like Michael Myers."
Yu's no stranger to horror, having directed "Bride of Chucky" along with dozens of Chinese supernatural adventures like "The Bride With White Hair" and "The Phantom Lover". He does, however, admit to not being very familiar with either Freddy or Jason - which is part of what landed him the job.
"They said they wanted a fresh angle, they wanted someone that wasn’t familiar with the movies. This was a new franchise, and they wanted a new look and feel."
Yu's next project is a full-length live-action film based on the anime “Blood: The Last Vampire”, which is about a young girl with a big Samurai sword. Will she figure into "Freddy vs. Jason 2"? Stay tuned.
