Jigsaw Killer 11-09-2014 07:23 PM

I remembered the Watchers films, very loosely based on the Dean Koontz book. There's four of them in total. I've seen the first and third, I remember liking the original but the third is such a blatant Predator rip-off it's a shock the filmmakers weren't sued.

Jigsaw Killer 11-24-2014 04:32 PM

I don't remember if I mentioned them before and am too lazy to look through the thread right now but I remembered the Trancers films. I remember seeing one or two of them back then.

Jigsaw Killer 12-07-2014 02:11 AM

The holiday season is reminding me of Silent Night, Deadly Night. I don't think I've seen any of the films though way back then I may have seen one or two on cable but that was so long ago. I always wanted to check out the first one.

Isn't that the one with "Garbage day!"

Oh yeah! Thanks

Jigsaw Killer 12-07-2014 04:09 PM

I know of the second movie largely due to that scene being all over the internet.

vampyd1977 12-07-2014 10:13 PM

originals rule

i`ll not rehash the list as i love original movies but some others i love, the original howling and ginger snaps, some honourable mentions to the toxic avenger, amityville 2, blade and the first from dusk till dawn movie,i loved the puppet master movies as a youth, demons, critters, ghoulies, so many.

Jigsaw Killer 12-08-2014 12:59 AM

I take it the original is your favorite of every series listed?

vampyd1977 12-08-2014 09:44 AM

originals

That was Saw III.

vampyd1977 12-09-2014 06:54 AM

oops

you ever get to the point where you watch that many you have a brain fart...that was my brain fart moment.

Jigsaw Killer 12-09-2014 03:10 PM

I kinda know the feeling in a way.

Jigsaw Killer 12-16-2014 09:21 PM

I may have mentioned it before, but another Horror TV show I remembered is Fear Itself. It was short-lived and aired on NBC a few years back. Didn't see all of the episodes but remember Eater (by Stuart Gordon) was quite good.

Jigsaw Killer 01-03-2015 07:23 PM

With V/H/S there's a third movie of that series out now I think. I've yet to see them but have been curious ever since seeing the trailer for the original.

Insidious 01-06-2015 08:37 PM

A Nightmare on Elm Street.- A Nightmare on Elm Street (Wes Craven Original)

I know a lot consider Dream warriors the best but for me the original is the one i re-watch the most.

I also consider the remake easily the worst. The cgi effects were terrible IMO and just didn't do anything for me overall.

horcrux2007 01-07-2015 03:27 AM

Since when was Dream Warriors considered better than the original?

Raegan 01-07-2015 07:12 AM

I'm sure these have been said but here we go:

Evil dead/AOD
Sleepaway Camp
Puppet Master
Halloween
Friday the 13th
Critters

I'm sure I'm missing some but those are just off the top of my head

Insidious 01-07-2015 03:01 PM

I've heard that a lot. There was some documentary on the whole series i watched and a lot of people said they thought 3 was the best.

Jigsaw Killer 01-07-2015 03:41 PM

The original ANOES is good but I prefer both New Nightmare and Dream Warriors to it.

Jigsaw Killer 01-09-2015 02:57 PM

Isn't there a new Rec film coming out? I'm behind on that series, I've seen the first two plus the American remake, Quarantine.

I'm pretty sure you got at least two to go.

Sorry, 3 to go. ::smile::

Jigsaw Killer 01-09-2015 08:15 PM

Like I said, I'm behind. Definitely a series for me to re-visit sometime.

Jigsaw Killer 01-20-2015 03:57 PM

August Underground is another series I remembered. Only seen the first which is quite a disturbing film. The second installment Mordum often shows up on a lot of most extreme Horror films lists.

Jigsaw Killer 02-01-2015 07:56 PM

I've never had a chance to watch them but I remembered The Haunting Hour TV series. Been meaning to catch it, I've heard it's quite a dark show despite being for kids and it's comparable to Are You Afraid Of The Dark? with it's tone.

Jigsaw Killer 02-14-2015 03:19 PM

The trailer for the Poltergeist remake made me realize that's the first movie of that series since the third way back in 1988. I know it's a remake and all but it should be interesting to see how it stacks up to the others.

Jigsaw Killer 03-01-2015 01:32 AM

Another television series I remembered was Freddy's Nightmares. I've seen very little of it but it seems to be pretty hit and miss from what I've seen.

Jigsaw Killer 03-26-2015 06:25 PM

Giving this a little bump if that's okay.

Jigsaw Killer 04-08-2015 10:00 PM

Roiffalo 04-21-2015 02:43 AM

I'm still attempting to watch several of the horror franchises (Elm Street being one), but I'll share my favorites of the ones I have seen all of. Will add more when I watch more or think of more to add.
* = new

Halloween
- ...Can I just tie 1 through 5 (excluding 3 of course). I also really really enjoy Resurrection.

Friday the 13th
- I through III (can't really pick just one of these). Really enjoyed Jason Takes Manhattan too.

Hellraiser
- First one, easy! ...or is it. I really like 2 and 3 too... And Hellworld.

Child's Play
- Bride of Chucky. My sister's more into the Chucky films and the reason I watched any of them. 'Bride of Chucky' I enjoyed most cause of Tiffany.

Howling
- First and Original Nightmare. Cause I + IV = book

Tremors
- First. Second wasn't too bad. Third I can't even take seriously...

Scream*
- First. Although I enjoyed all of them, as Sidney herself said in the 4th movie, "Don't fuck with the original." And I just LOVED the cast in the first.

Jigsaw Killer 04-21-2015 02:33 PM

Some of those are interesting choices.

I came back to this topic to edit my last post when I noticed this. Were you referring to my last post? Sorry I noticed it so late if so ^^;

Jigsaw Killer 05-15-2015 03:52 PM

I was, what about some of the other series you left out?

Roiffalo 05-15-2015 09:59 PM

I simply have seen them or I haven't seen all of them to fairly judge a favorite. I'm slowly making my way down the list though. I'll confess I've been a monster junkie for a long time, but have only recently started branching out in the slasher and select few other types of horror. So many of the franchises listed in the first post are new to me, if not by a few years.

Jigsaw Killer 05-17-2015 08:06 PM

Depending on your tastes in the genre you'll be in for a neat surprise when you see some of these films and their sequels for the first time.

Roiffalo 05-17-2015 11:22 PM

Yeah especially after my own taste has changed. I was never interested in Aliens, but I feel now I could sit through the movies. I did for a Predator after all and enjoyed it.

I intend at some point to watch:
- A Nightmare On Elm Street (I've seen 3 or so, need to see the rest)
- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
- Alien
- Predator
- Final Destination (recently acquired one of them on DVD)

These were taken from the list on the first post. I'm not sure about "Phantasm"... Don't know what it's about. And I'm not interested in zombies so no "Evil Dead", and I have no interest in the "Saw" films.

Jigsaw Killer 05-18-2015 12:31 PM

Wow, those are some major ones you've yet to see. I'll say as a fan of most of those that they're definitely worth your while.

Jigsaw Killer 05-26-2015 06:20 AM

The Poltergeist remake surprisingly wasn't too bad, I'd probably rate it higher than the third one. Still far prefer the first two movies though and am in the minority of preferring the second, though the first two are equals to me.

Joe @ AltInn Games 05-26-2015 03:10 PM

Halloween
My pick? The first one I suppose. Mayyybe the second. I did enjoy pretty much all of them, but in different ways. (Except 3, never saw it.)

Friday the 13th
This is a very difficult question. It comes down to 2, 3, and 4. But I pick 3. After 4 they changed a lot I think. Not to say they were bad, I just enjoy the first few more.

Nightmare on Elm Street
Tough call between the first three. I'm gonna go with 2 because of the mood I'm in.
