Third greatest Lewton film, in my humble opinion, and very overlooked. |
Creature from the black lagoon.

Dressed To Kill (1946)
Solid script. Excellent movie. touche. |
Island of Lost Souls (1933)
Absolutely one of the most underrated horror films of the 1930s. Spectacular and frightening. Based off of the H.G. Wells tale, this is the bizarre story of a mad doctor and his experiments in the transformation of animal to man. His experiments aren't working very well. A man stumbles across the island inhabited by this doctor, and here-in the plot thickens. Loved. Every. Second. And, as a kicker, a terrifyingly tense, perfectly executed bang ending. (Plus, it boasts an almost unrecognizable Bela Legosi, fresh off of Murders in the Rue Morgue, as one of the "things".) |
The Revenge of the creature.

But wasn't it based on H.G. Wells' The Island of Dr Moreau? |

i don't know if this is considered a classic, but i recently saw 'cannibal holocaust' for the first time and it totally sucked in my opinion. i mean i like violence in movies, but that whole killiing the monkey and cutting the turtle open stuff sucked, they spent way too much time on it. it wasn't scary or even funny. overall, i kind of disliked the idea of the movie anyway.

Thinking of watching some Universal "Houses" tonight:
House of Frankenstein House of Dracula Might have to watch something else if my dad wants to watch something, but hopefully I'll squeeze in one (if not both) of these:) |
I saw the 1960 Psycho for the first time a couple of weeks ago.
I liked it alottttt :] |
House Of Dracula
|
Man of a Thousand Faces (1957).
OK, not a horror movie, but a film about one of the greats of horror - Lon Chaney Snr. I believe that this is a very loose account of his life (read: fictionalised account) but it was actually a very entertaining movie. |
Blood on Black Lace
Psycho (1960) Great Films.:) |
Fiend Without a Face
A wonderful classic horror film that's simple in design and execution but ends up being very entertaining. The effects don't hold up as well as the simple plot does but it was some of the first gore and it's servicable even today. A fun film. |

I love this movie. I remember seeing it as a little kid and it scared the hell out of me. A great "B" movie classic. |

The Unknown (1927)
...my arms hurt... Spectacular cast lead by the great Lon Chaney and a very young (and very gorgeous) Joan Crawford. Terrifyingly tragic, heartbreakingly demented, sickly touching. |
Mad Love
I'd love to see the other versions of the story (Hands of Orlac) because this one was great. Lorre is as creepy as ever. |
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962)
