Well, it is still the US, right? One could probably hitchhike all the way there. Just need to show some nice leg and carry a flare gun. ::wink::

I always really have dug foreign flicks....Coupla good ones I seen recently get high marks from me.

Inbred
a pic from the U.K. gots lotsa really good shock and gore plus some a that English backcountry slang, some really good lines in this one.

Train to Busan
Now this flick is real and shit!
The single mindedness of the zombies, great sense of chaos, loss of loved ones...This flick's bagin' on all cylinders!

Back here at home...

Bushwick
This pic has great cinematography that really brings you into the scenes. It also has good sense a danger and a tragic ending. Pretty good.

Meh..I still like R.Z.'s first two flicks best.

But dig this y'all...I think the last time I went to a big movie theater it mighta been '95 or 96' maybe...took Mrs. DBT to see the new B-Runner...man so much has changed at the movies.

I wanted to see Houses October Built 2..but they weren't showin' it any more::mad::

I either forgot or didn't know HOB 2 was a thing. I liked the first one enough, but if people say the sequel doesn't live up to its potential I doubt there's anything I'll like about this one...

I just found it very "Hollywood-ized".

Dead Bad Things 11-08-2017 04:04 PM

Sucks when that happens...originality gettin' lost tryin' to make it more apealin' to a mass market.

Great story/film. Barker didn't like the film. I thought it was a crazy classic. The sweary verger was a lot of fun.

Taking the form of a human being and corrupting it always good makes fer a monster in my book...Zombies fer one instance..The one's in the last flick I saw were some scary fucked up naked bloody blind hunchbacked bucktoothed really freaked my shit.
They was all climatized and adapted to post ZA enviro.
Extinction is the name of the flick. Lotta good hooks and twists in this one despite a few slow and sappy parts.

Really got me thinkin' 'bout how long I could hold out....

Speaking Hitchcock and the Birds...

I was just listening to an NPR interview with Tippi Hedren (the Birds, Marnie), her daughter Melanie Griffiths (Something Wild), and her daughter Dakota Johnson (The Social Network), where Tippi was talking about her last day with Alfred Hitchcock...

Tippi said that she was called in to Alfred's office, and conjured her to get-it-on with him there, when she refused, she said he forced himself on her, and she pushed him off. She said he said if she didn't comply she would have a hard time getting any work (as he held her contract). She said she told him "Do what you got to do!", left and slammed the door harder than she ever had before or since.

Dead Bad Things 11-19-2017 11:23 AM

Yeah well...showbiz is a sleazy industry ya know.....that kinda thing sure tarnishes our icons, but I'll still celebrate their works.

Birds was real formative in in my love fer horror....saw it fer the first time from the back seat of a car at a drive in movie theater..was a double feature R.S.'s Alien and A.H.'s The Birds...that scene were the lady gets her eyes pecked out.. messed me up in a good way....think I mighta been seven 'er eight at the time.

So the other day I saw this documentary on Funk and they was sayin' 'bout havin' a hall of fame put up....well this got me thinkin'.....Horror Hall of Fame!
Saw on YT that Robert Englund did a show in the early 90's...
categories could include things like books, authors, films ,actors , directors...
gotta mull that one over a bit...

Totally agree, can still appreciate the work of the artist that isn't perfect, to whatever the unpleasant extent. And anyway, individuals don't make films, teams do. Dial M for Murder is still my favorite Hitchcock film. Did you ever see "Rope"? That's a very cool Hitch film too. I consider both of them horror.

I was about the same age when I saw The Birds on TV, and the missing pecked out eyes had a huge effect on me too.

A Horror Hall of Fame 'museum' and awards show is an excellent idea. Right now the highest honor in horror film is probably the Saturn Awards for Horror film. But ya, there's so many other categories in books, graphic novel and music, and you'd have to be thinking horror icons too.

I love story telling (one live speaker telling a story to an audience). Ever go to a story telling event? There should be an award for best horror story telling too. ::cool::
