But yes... I think that the scene with the two girls in the forbidden room and the ghost's hair flying as it approached them with dangling arms was the creepiest of the movie :|

The only "problem" was that I was always expecting something really horrible to appear and it never did. But in a way, that built up the pressure during the entire movie, which is always good.

The only problem I had with "pulse" was to keep track on the locations. Most of the time i had absolutely no idea where the characters were, and i felt that the director did nothing to explain.

Marebito ... I thought it was intresting, but was hurt by being shot in 8 days, wish they had put a bit more time into it.

Dreadfully dull durring most of the movie and the few adrenaline scenes didn´t work very well. Oh, and the scares were non existing..:mad:

The Maid

I was pleasantly surprised to find this one at Wal-Mart. I really liked it, mostly because of the "fish out of water" element to the movie. Rosa (the maid) doesn't understand anything about her employers' culture, language, traditions, etc., and I could see myself in her position. There were some genuinely creepy moments in the movie, and I was impressed with the special effects. I also was surprised by one aspect of the ending, but I won't give anything away. Overall, I'd recommend it.

Heey yesterday I saw my second asian horror movie :D Ok, I'll stop counting by the third or so.

It was A Tale of Two Sisters and I loved it! Unfortunatelly I made the mistake of getting the brazilian version (I'm portuguese) so it was a bit difficult to follow the dialogues, since the original voices were loud enough to mix with the brazilian and make a big mess :(

But.. the story is really twisted and it had some seriously scary moments. The performances were great, I loved the melancholy of the whole thing and the movie actually made me sad in the end. It had that asian sensitivity that just makes american movies look... a bit shallow.

It was great and I definatelly think you should see it!

This place still isnt named Asian horror, instead of just J-Horror? :rolleyes:

Thought it was quite good.

It was easy to see that Shimizu had got more money on his hands and that he had brought something with him from USA. Good CGI. :Cool:

I can´t really say that i liked "Marebito". I didn´t find it scary at any time, just weird. That was disappointing, coz i´ll always connect the name Shimizu with scary ideas. "Marebito" had none of those.

"Rinne" on the other hand, had a few nice scares and a good horror story that didn´t look TOO much like Ju-on ("Ju-on: the grudge 2" comes closest). And i loved the scene where the girl is looking at the broken glass in her hand and sees the killer from the past, while in the past the killer looks at the blade on his knife and sees the girl from the present. That was awesome and new and reminded me of the scene in "Ju-on the grudge 2" with the ghosts of the future and the hanging couple, remember? Fucking original!!!


And about the Ghost School movies... I´ve only seen "Wishing stairs". That was enough for me. Except for the last 10 minutes of the movie, "wishing stairs" just reminded me of some drama about shoolgirls and their problems. Didn´t need to see more of that series after that.

Well, my most recent viewing wasn't something I hadn't seen before.

Mermaid In A Manhole

I enjoy this movie quite a bit and agonize over my lack of ability to kill the mermaid myself and get the shit OVER with! Nice movie to squirm to, either over the WAY "over the top" gore, the agonizingly drawn out lonjevity of a diseased pus squirting bare chested cutie of an asian mermaid (Yeah, it's wierd feeling attraction to something that's oozing pus all over the place).

Anyway, see it, own it. You'll be piping with pride showing it to your friends and watching them squirm through the flick!

Branded to Kill. Surreal, black and white gangster film. Quite a few of the shots and set pieces in this film are astonishingly beautiful. Recommended, but not for the short attention span set.

I saw it without subtitles so i have absolutely no idea what they were saying at any time, but i got the impression that it didn´t have a very happy ending...

No, a horror movie based on a Hans Christian Andersen fairty tale doesn´t sound appealing to me. Hans Christian Andersen makes me wanna puke..

I havn't watched "Stacy" in awhile, so I decide to pop it in the old dvd spinner last night, I have to say it was just as good as the first time I watched it....

You gotta love asian zombie schoolgirls....
