Got Jason X on DVD.

I figured if they ever get around to releasing it on Blu-ray separately it might be a double with Friday the 13th Part 9, which I don't need. I was going to wait and get the recent set cheap but it wasn't happening fast enough. Maybe I'll upgrade to Blu-ray one day. Right now I'm satisfied with my DVDs since the Blu-ray of Part 6 is with the green color I don't like.

Snatched these up at Texas Frightmare Weekend yesterday

It has been quite a while since I posted a horror movie collection update. Honestly, I slacked off for a while due to focusing on other interests of mine. Most of the horror films that I have purchased since the last update were purchased in the last month. Usually, my parents give me a couple hundred dollars for my birthday, so I might do a spree next month (I won't know until then, though I seem to be moving into horror now, so there is a good chance this will end up occurring). Anyway, here are the horror films I purchased since the last update:

Note: DVD replacement means I had the film on VHS, but decided to replace it on DVD.

Anatomy (2000)
Black Swan (2010)
The Blob (1988) (DVD Replacement)
Critters 4-Pack including Critters (1986), Critters 2: The Main Course (1988), Critters 3 (1991), Critters 4 (1992)
Frankenfish (2004)
Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988) (DVD Replacement)
Jennifer’s Body (2009)
Jesse James Meets Frankenstein’s Daughter (1966) (DVD Replacement)
Land of the Dead (2005)
Leprechaun 4-Pack including Leprechaun (1993), Leprechaun 2 (1994), Leprechaun 3 (1995), and Leprchaun 4: In Space (1997)
Opera (1987)
Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (2013)
The Pumpkin Karver (2006)
The Purge (2013)
Tremors Collector’s Edition (1990) (DVD Replacement)
When a Stranger Call (2006)

Some non-horror films that I purchased include:
American Hustle (2013)
Gravity (2013)
Saving Mr. Banks (2013)
A Time to Kill (1996)
Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

Sutter Cane 05-12-2014 08:49 AM

Excuse my English, okay?

The past two months I got....

DVD
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i2.../image-106.jpg
The top row is the ones that are hard to find. I also got Campfire Tales. Whoo-hoo! I'm so happy I finally got 'em in my movie collection! They're wonderful additions. I haven't seen Dagon or Critters yet. I hope they're worth it. Tales from the Hood and Gremlins were originally in snapcase packaging which I hate with a fiery passion so as you can see in picture above, I have turned them into keepcase. (I do that with the rest of my snapcase DVDs.)

Blu-Ray
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i2.../image-107.jpg
The top row are from Scream Factory. I've got all I wanted from them for now. I'm currently waiting for them to release Nightbreed, Ginger Snaps, Pumpkinhead, and Motel Hell. I'm hoping the new Ginger Snaps release will have either subtitles or CC because none of other releases have them.

Non-horror
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i2.../image-108.jpg
I found Fight Club edition at a pawn shop for a dollar. I found Terminator 2 along with a metal slipcover at my local movie store. I got it for 7 bucks. I didn't know it existed till I saw it.

Nice pickups- Scanners, Magic, War of the Worlds 53 and The Invisible Ray (I want to see this one). These have any cool extra features like 'the making of', or audio commentaries?

I believe the War of the Worlds film comes with a commentary, not sure what, if anything, else it includes.

Magic includes Fats and Friends" featurette, Interview with Anthony Hopkins, Interview with cinematographer Victor J. Kemper, A.S.C., Archival Anthony Hopkins radio interview, Ann-Margret make-up test, Still gallery, Theatrical trailers, TV spots, and Radio spots according to Amazon.

The Invisible Ray was one of five films on a Bela Lugosi pack. As a result, it really does not include any special features (except MAYBE a trailer, I would have to check to be sure).

I do not believe Scanners includes any special features except maybe the original trailer. I recently found out that Criterion will be releasing their edition next month. While that version will not include any commentaries, from what I understand, it will include New, restored 2K digital film transfer, supervised by director David Cronenberg, with uncompressed monaural soundtrack on the Blu-ray; The “Scanners” Way, new documentary on the film’s special effects, featuring interviews with Cronenberg’s collaborators; Mental Saboteur, a new interview with actor Michael Ironside; The Ephemerol Diaries, a 2012 interview with actor and artist Stephen Lack; Excerpt from a 1981 interview with Cronenberg on the CBC’s The Bob McLean Show; New, restored 2K digital transfer of Stereo (1969), Cronenberg’s first feature film; Trailer and radio spots; and an essay by critic Kim Newman. So, there is a good chance I will be buying the film again through Criterion to gain access to all of these special features.

Definitely! I've always been a fan of Sir Derek Jacobi. And it was nice to see Sean Pertwee, even if it was for a short time.

This will be my first William Lustig film. After reading Stephen King's comments about it in his DANSE MACABRE I'm really looking forward to it. Anyone know if the remake is worth watching?

With the horror collection I'm finally able to complete my Phantasm series. Could have gotten the film by itself for $7.50 but decided to get it this way for $6.66 (yes, 666) and get a few extra films to boot. By the way, anyone check out the prices of the other three lately at Amazon? They done gone crazy!

Thanks. By the way, the image I posted of the set has disappeared. Don't know why, didn't do anything weird with it.

Giganticface 07-21-2014 10:32 PM

Hmm, I'm seeing the image, but maybe my browser has it cached or something. Depending on where you're linking it from, some sites will stop serving the image if it's not authorized to be externally linked. You're hosting it on photobucket though, which should be fine.

The images are back! Don't know what happened. Place must be haunted. Anyway, I'll put the remake of MANIAC on my must-eventually-get list.
