I love California, except for the southern part. But I don't blame you for wanting to keep her close....it can be a real pain to cross the country to visit. I fly or drive to Georgia every year or two, and it's a hell of a trip.

I have 3 bedrooms upstairs. I don't need but 1.

Thanks for all of the offers, unfortunately that would kinda defeat the purpose of 'being out on her own' :)

We're STILL looking...Same problems, found some AWESOME ones, but they won't allow her to have her cat...

Now she wants to try to BUY a house...I've tried to explain to her that it isn't gonna happen that way, not yet...She has to build up a decent credit rating, a good work history, and she's too young...

She won't listen, looks like she's gonna have to find out on her own...That'll probably set her back another month...*sigh*

My brother bought a house when he was 19.

Why doesn't she just get an apartment for now? More often than not they take a deposit for pets and it's gotta be easier to find than a house.

She has never lived in an apartment, she's afraid she won't like having so many people living so close to her, above her ceiling, under her floor, on the other side of her walls, etcetera...

There are quite a few houses for rent within 5 miles of here, it's just that they go so fast, and the cat is an issue for some...If we could just find one that accepts pets, before someone else snags it up, we'll be set...It's just a matter of getting it before someone else does...I'm sure it will happen eventually

As for buying a house...She has less than one year on her job and no credit history...There are many available with 'special financing', which usually means ridiculous interest rates...Also, owning a house means fixing EVERYTHING that breaks, and what if it needs a new roof in a couple years? It's too much for her...She has never even mown a lawn before...I don't think she'd care too much for THAT either...She really needs to wait on that one

Doesn't she pretty much have that same situation now surrounded by you weirdos? :D

Hope everything works out with that, I got the hell outta dodge when I was 15 and I must say that having your own place is great.(At least until you're no longer able to zone out the fact that dreams never come true and you're stuck in this crappy world with a crappy job for 40 or 50 years, then you retire and wait to die.)

Thanks, I was out when I was 17...But, I never really got along with my mother, we were (are) just completely different kinds of people...Here's a couple of examples:

Last summer, standing in my mother's front yard...I was talking about something and I said the word "shit"...She was horrified, she said, "What if one of the neighbors heard you?"...I said, "I'm sure they've probably heard that word before"...And remember, I'm not exactly a kid anymore...So, when she went into her house, I looked at Dustin and I said, "Hey look, I'm scratching my ass...Right in the front yard!...Oooh, what if one of the neighbors sees me?"...And he said, "And you said 'ASS' too" *feigned shock*...So, I said, "And what if they knew I wasn't wearing any UNDERWEAR right now?!"...He said, "Well, at least you aren't wearing MY underwear this time"...So, I said, "Hey...Are you wearing MINE?"...:D...He thought that was pretty funny, we still joke about it

And

About a week ago, when we were taking some of Seri's furniture to my mother's house to store until she moves out (cuz our house AND basement are COMPLETELY full, and Seri just keeps getting more stuff)...I was carrying a dining room table when my mother said, "People are going to think you're a lesbian with that chain hanging off your pants"...Seri was TOTALLY laughing her ass off and she said, "THINK she's a lesbian?!"...Well, mom chose to ignore that, but I had to respond to such a ridiculous comment, in a way that I hoped might show my mother 1) How lame that comment was... 2) How very little I gave a shit what anyone thought about me anyway...and 3) How things could be worse....

So, what I said was, "Don't worry Mom...If anyone ever publicly questions my sexuality because I wear chains on my pants, I promise you that I will firmly and loudly proclaim how much I LOVE the weiner!...That way there will be no confusion, and you won't have to worry...I'll do that just for you"...Seri was rolling (still brings that one up, too...Dustin keeps repeating it)...Yet, somehow MOM didn't really have a comment...lol

Yeah...Things are so much more different now...

I remember the day I moved out..

''You've got practice, school...you're gonna cut the grass and help me cut that tree outta the yard so go to sleep.''

''Dude I'm 15, aren't we pass the in bed at 9 thing?"

''Don't get smart just go to bed, my house you do what I say until you're out of it.''

''Sounds good to me.''

packed up, went to the door..

''The fuck are you doing?"

''Fuck you''

He knocked the holy hell outta me, I knocked the holy hell outta him yada yada yada, went to my brother's house for a month before I got my apartment. I always kinda regret that for a reason I don't even want to think about, but overall I think it was the right thing to do.

That last post was hilarious by the way. Your mom almost sounds as loopy as my dad...and we're suppose to be the ''weird'' people.
