seriously - even in jest i dont get the hate .. just dont watch them !

there are people who's films i avoid. No one makes me see them.
I dont expose myself to the off screen lives of these people .. i'll NEVER understand the people who do.

a) who gives a fuck
b) do something with your own life
c) you have no fucking idea whats true or not anyway - as if it matters.

what the fuck is the fascination with these people ? i like my garbage taken away, i like my toilets to flush, i like the snow in front of my house removed ...
i have no interest in the private lives of the people who do them (unless they are personal friends)

I have tried very hard to live by that exact standard, but i am surrounded by people who make it their business, so i hate by proxy. Someof the stuff i have witnessed first-hand (well, "TV" first hand...) like Tom Cruise's arrogance, others, i am just fucking tired of hearing about them.

thing is - i love biographies ... but i always skim over everything that doesnt have to do with the film making process.

thats the only thing i care about .. their take and their stories about the films they made.

Oh, give Michael Richards a break... he said something in anger (unlike Mel, who was in the wrong, Kramer was doing nothing wrong) and is getting publicly slapped for it. the world will get over it. At least he didnt kill his wife.

True, but i heard some interesting points about htis on the radio this morning. They were talking to Patrice O'Niell (who is black) and he pointed out that it didnt sound particularly racist to him at all, until he apologized.

whithin the stand up community, they apparently retaliate against hecklers with whatever ammunition they can drag out, and sometimes they go for the really dirty stuff, the idea being to crush the person so thoroughly they shut up and stay that way.

Would I go there? No. But as i have stated before, the word only has as much power as you give it, and I doubt the average black person these days has the need or the experiences necesarry to justify some of their hostility and sensitivity.


Now, dont get me wrong. I think the First Ammendment should not cover neo-nazis and the KKK. i think their hate propganda should get them locked up, but i think the world needs to get over a lot of this shit. I dont care how much hate is behind it, "Cracker" is just STUPID.

I personally refuse to use "that word", but i think its impact is not what it used to be. I imagine quite a few people get offended because that is how they are supposed to act.

I may be way off base here. Im a white guy who is tired of EVERYONE whining about how they are owed something because their ancestors got treated badly.
