I wonder if I saw something back in my childhood that fucked me up like this. I should talk to my parents because I'm curious. I guess I could watch it and skip the animal scenes. How many scenes of that are there?

VampiricClown 02-27-2007 07:12 PM

No clue. I have it, but never can bring myself to watch it.

Unaboner3000 02-27-2007 07:13 PM

I wasn't aware the US ever banned the film but it is possible. The producers of Cannibal Holocaust have claimed to be banned in almost 60 countries, but I think that is likely exaggerrated to better "hype up" the movie.

I know the UK and Germany still ban the original version and only allow a heavily cut version.

VampiricClown 02-27-2007 07:19 PM

It isn't something I look forward to watching.

It is however something I think all horror fans should see. It's something with real death and shows real horror. Not to mention that with all the hype around it, there need to be people to talk it back down to just a movie, not a great achievment.

* The killing and flaying of a large, screaming coatimundi (often mistaken as a muskrat), by an actor (who also mistook the animal for muskrat).
* A large turtle (about 45 cms long) is captured in the water and dragged to shore, where it is then decapitated and its limbs and shell removed. The actors proceed to cook and eat the turtle.
* A large spider is killed with a machete.
* The killing of a snake with a machete.
* A squirrel monkey is captured by a native actor portraying a tribesman, who cuts the monkey's face off with a machete while it is struggling and then eats the brains.
* A pig is kicked and then killed with a rifle when shot in the head by an actor.
* The killing of several bugs located inside a prop-skull.

Oh, fuck that. That monkey scene just sounds fucked up, I could never watch that, especially due to the fact where you say "struggling". That director can burn in hell. He should have gotten life sentence. We should treat animal murder the same as human murder. Humans at least can fight for their life while there isn't a damn thing an innocent animal can do.

Shady, if the actual animal killings disturb you, you will really be mad at the reasons behind them. When the film was made during a time it was growing unpopular for filmmakers to stage such animal death scenes in Italy, and the use of such scenes were intended to attract controversy.

People will do anything for a little money and even popularity. I'm just fine the way I am. If that guy needs to torture an innocent and helpless animal to feel better about himself than he does not deserve to be in this world.

This is done every day in some restaurants, the monkey is trapped in the center of the table by its neck with only its head exposed in the center of the tabletop, each diner at the table is given a small metal hammer, they bash its head until its brains are exposed, then scoop them out with little forks (they look like shrimp forks) and eat the brains right out of their head...It's an appetizer

Many pigs on farms are dispatched with rifles, although the preferred method is with a sledgehammer...Then they're suspended upside-down, slit from groin to gullet over a bucket, cleaned out, dressed and then EATEN...OMG, the HORROR...I know all of YOU guys are used to just walking up to the pig and asking him for a little bacon for breakfast upon which he reaches into his hind pocket and happily complies:rolleyes:
