I've actually yet to see the original Cannibal Halocaust. My boyfriend torrented it the other day because we can't find it anywhere so I guess I'll see it soon. From what I've heard of the original though I would have said Terrintino because he obvioulsy does a good job on gore. However, thinking it over and taking your opinions into account Mel seems like a really good pick. Making a movie like that realistic would just be so much better and disturbing.

I'd love to see Mel tackle this kind of material.
He has this whole "a man is judged by his ability to endure suffering" thing flowing through his entire body of work. Apocalypto was super cool. He'd make a cannibal movie gross as shit and all about the suffering. |
dunno about mel. he strikes me as a deep thinker. cannibal holocaust is pretty much mindless. and like i said before, this movie was almost unbearable when made with 1970's standard production. i don't even want to think about how much worse it would be if it were as real as the passion

I think Mel would definitely make a much more disgusting film....yet, I think he would also do a better job of making a moral statement in the film as well...sort of a "who are the real cannibals" and "media is evil" sorta theme.

a lot of good points made here. i get the impression that neither of these two guys really get the juices flowing. so if you could pick any director ever, who would it be?

Kubrick, if he weren't dead, could do some seriously interesting things with that.

Yeah, he died making Eyes Wide Shut. I think the shame killed him.
