Sam The Egg 10-09-2004 02:18 PM

oh. Well the only place I could find a copy called it Thesis

EXTR3MIST 10-09-2004 02:37 PM

It's just a case of Spanish/English translation; some movies - like BAISE MOI and TESIS - retain their original language titles on the packaging and the print itself of the English releases (of course the former translates as "Fuck Me" - imagine that on billboards).

Asking for, say, LO SQUARTATORE DI NEW YORK instead of THE NEW YORK RIPPER in Blockbuster though would lead to complications.

Probably the most disturbing film I have seen is Se7en. I saw it in theaters when it came out and it really fucked with me for some reason.

Another one that disturbed the hell out of me and I still talk about to people is an old 1929 film titled Un Chien Andalou. It was a collaboration between Luis Bunuel and Salvador Dali. The opening scene invovles a guy raking a straight razor right through a woman's eye ... very nasty, and pretty realistic-looking for a 1929 film (I'm not even sure it wasn't real).

Snuff films -- eh. I used to watch the Faces of Death films when I was a teenager, simply because they were taboo. But, whenever I would watch them, I would be filled with a sense of "wrongness". That watching these clips was not something rational human beings did for entertainment ... and I was disturbed most of the time. I have no desire to see any more.

RobinRock 10-12-2004 07:15 AM

Most Disturbing Film for me...

I really would like to be scared shitless...really. Nothing scares me anymore, but some movies that kind of bothered me were...

Requiem for a Dream

Mothman Prophecies (anything that borders on legend, that may be true scares the hell out of me.)

The Cube (That old goodie I had to see twice. It was just so horrible cause you didn't know who would create such a thing and put people in it. And it had no easy answers or solution -- claustrophobics beware)

Full Metal Jacket (although parts of it were pretty funny)

the beyond
city of the living dead - drill scene
cannibal ferox
silence of the lambs
candyman
jaws (i was only 7 at the time)
valley of gwangi - still one of the best dino flicks
king kong (1933) must be one of the best ever.

home movie of engagement - has a happy ending (not married) etc

carry on

Seven......donnie darko.....silence....couple others.....

Thought provoking and Horror dont usually go together....this genre is prone to old ideas and rehashed clitches...

MichaelMyers 11-05-2004 12:08 PM

Donnie Darko and Jacob's Ladder.

FilthyCannibal 11-05-2004 12:40 PM

Last House on the Left is pretty disturbing. It's almost like your watching a true story. It's almost too close to reality for me.

gren 11-05-2004 01:19 PM

well i may be speaking too soon but at least i foreshadow that in a few hours i will be fucked fucked fucked

countdown to Saw: 7 hours

yeh, im fucked. so i guess that would fall under 'most disturbiing'

as for thought provoking.. id go with se7en. thats jujst a great movie in general.
