A Serial Killer does as well, but he/she follows a specific pattern

Isn't a mass murderer someone who kills a lot of people at the same time?

Yes, my understanding is a mass murderer kills many people in one incident while a serial killer kills several people (at least three I think) over a more extended period of time; weeks, months or years.

doesn't he just kill at random but in a planned kind of a way and leaves
some kind of mark or clue.


Ok..the other day..my nose was all rudolph looking like

I don't think it is strictly random, meaning they follow a set pattern usually, like they might only kill someone with a certain hair color or body type. And yes, they usually take something or leave something, they have a modus operandi.
