Yeh its the same deal over here. The first album pops up a bunch but that one is a prick to find which is weird because its a way better album IMO than the debut.

Well I took the decision that if I want a cd I only will get it from ebay or similars. The last album that I buy here (Heaven and Hell : The devil you Know) was for 18 euros, so it's no so strange that we were one of the first countries on ilegal downloads.

It's a sad situation, each day that pass more music shops closes. When I was younger I use to spend a lot of time lookin' for new albums...

Yeh I have to get most of my stuff online. There's no good record stores in my town anymore, one of the big chains brought out the great local store then it went bust leaving us with nothing :(

There's a couple of junk stores that get the odd decent LP in and there's a couple of mainstream stores but they don't get anything interesting in. I grab the odd cheap bin gem on CD but that's about as exciting as it gets.

I miss digging around for records...

I'd love to have the cash to start my own store the town's just screaming out for one.

I'm out of town for the week so I'm lookin' forward to digging thru some record stores

Totally dude! Same with the Dio stuff (especially Dehumanizer) until quite recently.

FURR by Blitzen Trapper. Title song may be of interest to horror fans. About a 17 year old who turns into a wolf and when he turns 23 reverts back to human to raise kids with a girl he scared the crap out of. Sounds silly but it's a great song and a really good album.

Just picked up Dirty Projectors' new record Bitte Orca, which is pretty great. They've really streamlined their sound; avant-garde rock/R&B filtered through conventional songwriting. Very impressive. I think this might be the best album of the year for me so far.

SITUATION any good? Buck 65 (Rich Terfry) is the host of a radio program I listen to in the afternoon at work. Only familiar with one song of his, the one with something about "ain't got no culture; dirty words but they don't count."

That's Blood of a Young Wolf - really cool song.

I've yet to give Situation a listen just yet, but I'll let you know as soon as I do.

I've been a fan of his for a long while now, but I only know assorted songs - never actually listened to a full album. Highly recommend checking him out though, if you're into this kind of music.

A few tracks I'd suggest:

Wicked and Weird
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wyyVh3uc5Y

Surrender to Strangeness
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I67MoB9_Djk (Couldn't find a good video - best I could do)

Kennedy Killed the Hat
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oKYuOITDQk

I'll probably give Situation a good going over tomorrow...will let you know how it is.

sfear 07-04-2009 09:44 PM

Much appreciated. Thanks for the youtube links. Dial up's too slow to watch them now but will let them download when I have more time and watch them in one shot rather than 2-3 second spurts. Guess he's working on a new album now, which is why he's had a substitute host for the past few weeks.

The_Return 07-06-2009 03:16 PM

So yeah...I'm not super impressed with Situation. It's solid, but more typical hip-hop than his usual stuff - I've always liked how his work his pretty offbeat from the norm, with lots of different musical flavours.

Its a good album, but coming from someone like Buck 65 it seems a bit too generic.

Back to the main topic: also just picked up Paolo Nutini's Sunny Side Up.
