LOL! I tell Cherokee all the time that she needs to go on a diet!

She is fantastic - her new hobby is trying to climb the tree in the garden to escape while I try to make the tree unclimbable. I will post the tree later. The ginger cat is turning into a monster - he is getting huge, his brain hasn't grown much though.

The cat that cost me almost $2,000 at the emergency vet the other night

RIP my beautiful girl. Found out this morning her stomach was full of tumors. Had her euthanized a little while ago.

So sorry HF. It's been a rough summer. Strikes me as a quick decision to euthanize though?

Not really. She's lost a total of 6 pounds in 2 months, which is a lot for a cat. The vet said they could give her steroids, but it would only make her feel better for a couple of weeks. I wasn't going to sit by and watch her deteriorate even more.

Sorry to hear that but glad she is not suffering.

Jesus...I am so sorry. This can't be easy for you. Really sorry for your loss.

Roiffalo 07-20-2015 10:21 PM

We had to make that decision with one of our rabbits last December. It's not an easy thing to go through. I dread the day I have to say good bye to my girl more than I fear my own death. I can't imagine what you're going through, but I'm so very sorry for your loss, HF. I hope you had many happy years with her.

hammerfan 07-21-2015 04:43 AM

Thanks, guys. The vet made it easy when she told me just how sick Cherokee was. It was a no-brainer. I wasn't about to sit by and watch her suffer just because I wasn't ready to let her go.

Repo'd 07-21-2015 07:46 AM

I've had to make that decision more times than I wish to remember, but it's about the animals dignity, and your painful but necessary choice gave Cherokee precisely that. Her dignity in life and in her death. You're an awesome kitty mom, HF and I respect you so much for that.

Well said, Repo'd.

I'll be giving my cat more attention than usual today after HF's loss</3

Fucking love my cat. I'm totally not being biased when I say she's the most beautiful cat I've ever seen.

Thank you, Hammer. As are yours! They look very well loved. ::love::

Lucy looks like the most curious girl. She still has a lot of kitten left in her, I bet.

When Cherokee was alive, Lucy was a downright bitch. Now that Cherokee is gone, she's mellowed a lot.

The Bloofer Lady 11-08-2015 02:19 PM

Does she seem to miss Cher? Would you get another cat?
