Ooooo... Good thread.
Shoe-ins: John Carpenter Alfred Hitchcock David Lynch Roman Polanski Fighting for the 5th spot: Sam Raimi William Friedkin George A. Romero Takashi Shimizu Tim Burton (I am VERY excited about Sweeney Todd) Notes: I'm glad that someone else classifies Lynch as a horror director. I would love to see him do a strictly horror film. Then again, if he stuck to a single genre, he wouldn't be his wonderful Lynch self. Directors whom I haven't delved into but I should: Dario Argento Mario Bava David Cronenburg (I've seen Spider, which I found well-done yet predictable) |
1.George Romero.
2.Sam Raimi. 3.John Carpenter. 4.Wes Craven. 5.Tobe Hopper. |

I'd say... Romero Cronenburg Argento Hitchcock There are too many directors I like and would give this fifth spot to. From greats like Raimi, Bava, Craven, Polanski and Carpenter to the... different, like Henenlotter and HG Lewis. Hell, I'd even consider putting Stuart Gorden or Roger Corman on my list. |
1. George Romero
2. John Carpenter 3. Alfred Hitchcock 4. Wes Craven 5. Dario Argento |
It's too hard to decide. robert Rodriguez and Craven would be there for sure. Oh hell.
1. Ridley Scott 2. Neil Marshall 3. Wes Craven 4. Robert Rodriguez 5. James Cameron |
