Mostly its with friends, sometimes family. Normally, if I prefer to watch a movie alone, its at home on DVD.

We make it a point to get seats in the centre, because that offers the best view. Of course there's popcorn and sodas sometimes...but usually we get some snacks from outside.

Movie theaters here are not that strict about the no-drinking rule, and especially for late night shows...they are pretty liberal. I ve seen people drinking and discussing (and even puking!), and get away with it (sometimes they do pay the doorman an extra $10 for their messes, heh).

The I-dont-give-a-damn rule is pretty evident.

Well it looks like Monday I'll be going to the drive in to see Diary of the Dead (again) and The Eye in a double feature. I can't wait... nice in car heaters, good speakers, and what is supposedly the largest year round drive-in in the world. The best thing is they have a showing that starts at 1:45 AM (although I don't know if we'll be waiting until that late to see it). Now THAT'S cinema.

If only everybody was that considerate. I went with a group one time where one kid decided to pour his uneaten popcorn all over the floor and then jump around on it to crush it all. Asshole.

Now THAT's bad.

Most of em here are usually the drinking-puking-passing out types. Of course the staff works overtime for that kinda lot, so its a good gesture from the viewers.

Besides, most of em would demand extra cash, especially if they are doing cleaning-ups of messes. Not that I have seen any staffer actually ASK for it though.

That reminds me of the time I went to see Grease when it was released for the 20 year aniversary. My girl at the time was a huge fan.

We saw it in Blacktown Western Sydney late afternoon, there was cinema seats in the isles, popcorn being thrown everywhere, it actually fel like it should have though.

I go to the movies by myself all the time. Most of my friends only go if they REALLY wanna see the movie. I like to go when I think the movie might be good or what not so I go whenever if it's by myself, with friends, or my girlfriend.

Food is 50/50 with me. I bring food sometimes, sometimes I eat before I go to the movies, or I get some cool combos there to save money. It all depends on the mood and money situation.

ChronoGrl 03-02-2008 03:26 PM

I don't have a problem going to the movies alone, and I don't find it all that weird. I can be incredibly antisocial and introspecitve sometimes, and going to the movies is a nice way to get out an dhave time by yourself.

HOWEVER, I prefer to drag my boyfriend because he's my best friend, brilliant, and defintely enjoys movie discussions (whether the movie's a guilty pleasure movie or something considered High Art). Most of my friends don't have the same movie taste as I do, so I don't generally go with them... And I know I've ranted about it before, but I HATE going to the movies with my boyfriend's family.

But I LOVE going to the movies with my own mother. I heart my mother. :)

I LOVE popcorn at the movies. And loooooots of fake butter (I know - SO good for you). Soda over water (need that caffeine to make sure that I don't droop away... That IS, however, ONLY if I feel like shelling out the cash. Snackage is SO expensive at the movies that I'll prefer to save my money for either lunch before or dinner afterwards (but I still relish greasey salty popcorn at the pictures).

My big problem with going to the movies: PEOPLE. I cannot STAND it when people talk through movies. And I'm starting to get more sensitive to it than ever before, which definitely takes away from the actual enjoyment of it.

The worst thing about the theater is sitting besides someone who smells horrible, atleast if you go with someone else you cut the chance of that happening by 50%

It's still only 50% though... My worst theater experience is when I went to see this movie (I forget the movie now, all I remember is the stench) with my boyfriend and this woman beside me smelt like an unholy marriage of rotten cottage cheese, nachos and feet. He couldn't even smell it, I died in my seat for 25-30 minutes and then we had to sit in the very front because those were the only seats available.
