Descent was scary. That would get my vote. I didn't find the Ring scary and the crowds kind of annoyed me because they screamed and I was like...WTF the character walked by a tree. What was so scary about that? I saw it again just because I was afraid I was having an off night. Oh well, too each his own.

As far as the overall fear, I think Paranormal Activity was scarier than The Ring. More frequent in the ghostly goings on.

Agree.

Apart from the ring & PA, none of them should be categorized as scary film. Most of them are great, high standard horror films for sure but I don't only like to count them as Scary films. I think every scary film needs a creepy looking Ghost (not creature) with some solid amount of sudden scares as the story progress.

I personally would've gone with Paranormal Activity. That shit freaked me out.

That's actually quite a good way of looking at it. I mean, I can watch most horror films and yeah, they might gross me out a bit or provide one or two jumps, but to be a scary film, it really has to have you on the edge of your seat most of the time and you should be thinking about it for a while afterwards.
