Top Secret project "Cloverfield" sneak peek
Matt Reeves (“The Pallbearer”) will direct the top-secret Drew Goddard (“Lost”) written horror film “Cloverfield”. The hush-hush offering, produced by J.J Abrams, fixes on “a giant monster movie featuring something that’s being called “The Parasite”. It’s also known that the film’s been shot using hand-held video cameras. Oh, and its set in New York. “Cloverfield” is simply a code name at the moment… it could be called “Felicity gets Freaky” for all we know. The teaser trailer for the film- sans title – screened with some press reviews of “The Transformers” last week. A description of the trailer says, “We open with a bunch of teens partying. Apparently one of 'em is leaving town tomorrow and everyone's kind of bittersweet about it. Then they hear a giant ruckus and head outside to see a massive explosion in the distance. Out on the streets people are running around all panicky-like. Then the head of the Statue of Liberty lands in the middle of the street and the date of January 18, 2008, pops up. Oh, and it's all done with handheld video cameras. Basically The Blair Witch Project meets the Godzilla remake ... which means I can't wait to see it." Stephen King's "Insomnia" coming soon Rob Schmidt (“Wrong Turn”) has been tapped to bring Stephen King’s “Insomnia” to the big screen. “I'm doing the film mainly because King was such a big fan of Wrong Turn!" says director Schmidt. Creature master Stan Winston, who also collaborated with Schmidt on “Wrong Turn”, will be involved. This is a description of the book - "You'll lose a lot of sleep. Ralph does. At first he finds it hard to drop off. Then he starts waking up earlier. And earlier. But that isn't when he starts seeing things. Colors, shapes, strange auras around his friends. Not to mention the bald doctors who always turn up at the scene of a death. The evil looking one clutching a rusty scalpel. All that comes later. After Susan Edwina Day's visit to the town of Derry, Maine, is announced - when the once placid town starts to divide over women's issues. And the hitherto mild-mannered Ed Deepneau gets out of control - dangerously so. That's when Ralph begins to lose a lot more than sleep. When he begins to understand why Ed is obsessed with the notion that Derry is becoming the new Armageddon. And to realise that time is ticking away for the residents of his home town. An evil of unimaginable proportions has found a way in. And Ralph has one chance to beat it. In a card game. The stakes are high. They always are when you are playing for human souls. With a Joker in the pack... a bald one with a rusty scalpel..." "Hallowed Ground" completed and ready for release Post-production has recently completed on David Benullo's Hallowed Ground, a new supernatural thriller starring Jaimie Alexander (Rest Stop), Brian McNamara, Chloe Grace Moretz (The Amityville Horror, The Eye, Wicked Little Things), Hudson Leick and Nick Chinlund] (Ultraviolet). SFX were done by Precinct 13 Entertainment, the new fx house run by KNB co-founder and make-up fx guru Robert Kurtzman. Writer-Director David Benullo calls his film "a classic-style horror movie... It's Rosemary's Baby in a small town." He adds, "HALLOWED GROUND is a supernatural thriller about a young woman who becomes stranded in a small, mid-western town and discovers her arrival there was foretold by the town's founding preacher. She soon discovers she is an integral part of the preacher's impending - and terrifying - rebirth." Even though the film is a classic scare-flick, there will still be plenty of blood and violence, “In spots it's violent and bloody,” he says, “But it's not a torture movie, by any means. For me, the violence always has to feel integral to the story and not just like something you stick in for the sake of violence. Then it gets numbing.” New Trailer :- Monster Squad 20th Anniversary DVD trailer. If they can bring SK's vision into the film, Insomnia could be a great watch. I am sure Rob Schmidt can do wonders to it, considering Wrong Turn was such an entertainer.

A rather disappointing Horror In Your House set of releases
I guess the studios decided that Americans don't buy DVDs the week of the Fourth of July since this week's Horror In Your House is extremely disappointing. One of the only films of note is Jason Christensen's indie film With You, which critics have loved. The others which are slotted for release tomorrow at retailers countrywide include :- Day of the Ax: Brain Damage Dead Man’s Hand – Casino of the Damned: Wizard Entertainment Dead Teenagers: Brain Damage Drive-In Horror Series (SAVAGE SPIRIT, THEY FEED): Westlake Entertainment Ghoulies IV: Echo Bridge Granny: Brain Damage Mummy Maniac: Lionsgate Sodom the Killer: Tokyo Shock/Media Blasters Stephen King DVD Collectors Set: (CARRIE, THE DARK HALF, MISERY, NEEDFUL THINGS): MGM/Fox The Tomb: York Welcome to the Grindhouse: EVIL EYE and BLACK CANDLES: Deimos/BCI Eclipse Welcome to the Grindhouse: THE TEACHER and PICK-UP: Deimos/BCI Eclipse What the Peeper Saw: Televista With You: Passion River New pics from "Resident Evil: Extinction" Today three new images were posted online from Sony Screen Gems' upcoming Resident Evil: Extinction, which is said to be the final film featuring Alice (Milla Jovovich). "Albino Farm" FX wizard speaks for the first time The first ever photo from Sean McEwen's Albino Farm was released earlier today, together with bits of a conversation with Jason Barnett, Albino Farm's FX Maestro. The film follows the plight of four college students who, while exploring the Ozark Mountains for a midterm assignment on rural America, come face to face with a community of cave-dwelling redneck genetic mutations. Jason Barnett says about how it ended up working on ALBINO FARM, “Director Sean McEwen initially contacted me a year ago. My company, Industrial Monsters & Props, worked together in developing the look of the creatures, always basing it on a real life deformity or condition.” Most filmmakers have a specific vision of what they want with their film; Jason tells that Sean was really easy to work with, “I think the term Sean used was "go crazy!" And for about two months, we did. It took hundreds and hundreds of hours to create all of the prosthetics and effects for this show. It got pretty nuts, as we were still casting creatures a week or so before filming started. My crew worked very hard on Albino Farm.” The creatures created sound pretty damn interesting, especially the ‘Pig-Bitch’, “Our main creature, the Pig-Bitch, has an over-sized head, a 6-inch gap between her eyes and a cleft lip. I'd say that's [going] pretty far.” He also explains how the prop operates, “The make-up consisted of a radio controlled headpiece with an overlapping face appliance and teeth, he explains, “our actress, Bianca Barnett, was in the make-up for upwards of 12 hours. It paid off though, as her part will definitely stand out in the film.” So just how bloody is ALBINO FARM? Barnett replies, “We brought the blood. End of story.” You can view the photos here. Lionsgate "The Eye" remake will be coming in 2008 Earlier Lionsgate had said that their remake of The Eye was hitting theaters on October 12, but earlier today it was officially bumped to February 1, 2008. It was a good call, considering the original date put it in competition with 30 Days of Night and of course Lionsgate's other film, Saw IV, which is destined to destroy all. Directed by David Moreau and Xavier Palud the film stars Jessica Alba, Parker Posey, Alessandro Nivola, Francois Chau and Tamlyn Tomita. New trailer, more pics revealed for "Catacombs" A brand new trailer for Lionsgate's long-delayed Catacombs was released recently, together with the first batch of stills from the film, which is the story of a young woman on her first visit abroad. She goes to a party in the Catacombs, a 200-mile labyrinth of ancient limestone tunnels under Paris lined with the remains of 7 million people. When separated from her friends, she becomes convinced that someone or something is chasing her. You can view the stills here. Romero's Diary of the Dead still waiting a release, the infamous zombie director kick started an official blog on his MySpace page with a letter to his fans. With a story mixing elements of "The Blair Witch Project" and the long-running "Dead" series, the film will follow a group of college students shooting a horror movie in the woods who stumble upon a real zombie uprising. When the onslaught begins, they seize the moment as any good film students would, capturing the undead in a "cinema verite" style that causes more than the usual production headaches. From Romero's MySpace: Hi, guys, Lemme tell ya about Diary of the Dead. I love it. It's the first film since my original Night of the Living Dead that I can say is completely my own. I've been trying to work under-the-radar, with no hype or press, but lately I've started hearing all kinds of shit about "What's goin' on with Romero?" "What's with his new film?" Gimme a break over here! I'm up in Toronto workin' my ass off, making Diary the best it can be. Truth is, I'm having a blast. I've gone home to the kind of filmmaking that I used to do, back in the day. Diary is a hundred percent independent, made with my partner, Peter Grunwald, and our new friends at Artfire. I haven't had this much freedom since 1968. The cast, of what film critics will probably call "unknowns" (they won't be for long) is, in my opinion, fuckin' great. This one comes from my heart. It's not a sequel or a remake. It's a whole new beginning for the dead. Thanks to all of you who are out there waiting and wondering. You guys, the fans, have always kept me going. Now Diary's keeping me going, "night", "dawn", and "day". I love this movie. I hope you will, too. I'll be back here from time to time to keep you posted. Stay tuned. Stay scared. George A. Romero Anchor Bay Re-releasing Lamberto Bava's "Demons" and "Demons 2" This afternoon it was learnt that on September 25th Anchor Bay Entertainment will be re-releasing Demons and Demons 2, two Euro-horror classics directed by Lamberto Bava, son of legendary Italian filmmaker Mario Bava (Black Sunday, Black Sabbath) - each with brand-new anamorphic widescreen (1.66:1) transfers, repackaged and set at the devilishly low SRP of $14.98 each. Pre-book date is August 26th. In the classic '80s film several people are invited to join the opening of a new movie theatre. As the horror film shown to the guests gets more and more violent, the people start to transform one by one into bloodthirsty demons. The remaining guests begin the desperate battle for their lives. About time they released Catacombs.
Good to see Romero taking some time out to speak to his loyal fans. Saw IV sounds more interesting than I initially thought, but they better stop the sequels (when they are on a high) before they ruin the franchise. |

Top Secret Project "Cloverfield" opens Official Website Paramount's really serious about keeping J J Abrams' tentatively titled Cloverfield project top secret, but those who caught the trailer - attached to prints of Transformers - is that a website was launched for the film, which features nothing more than the release date and two terrified girls caught on camera. The girls are looking at something terrifying... could they be checking out this so-called giant 'parasite', or maybe they've just seen the Statue of Liberty's head roll down the street? Head on over to the official website to check it out and watch for as much info as possible, which should be nil until closer to the January release. Both of those sets from Universal sound great. I like the content of their franchise collections, but I don't like how they treat the material. The Classic Sci fi Ultimate didn't have dual layering, nor did Inner Sanctum, and I hope they keep up with that. But, some features would be nice. They don't treat any movies nearly so well as they treat Frankenstein, Dracula et al.

First official "Catacombs" poster revealed
The other day a new still and the trailer were found from Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures' Catacombs, which has been collecting dust for years now. Adding to that this morning is the first ever international poster for the film, which gives us a little hope that maybe we'll finally see the movie, starring Shannyn Sossamon and Alecia Moore, later this year. You can view the poster here. Looks exciting eh? New Indie brings out the worst in the characters The Black Waters of Echo's Pond, which will be directed by Gabriel Bologna, stars Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Walk the Line, X-Files), James Duval (Donnie Darko, Independence Day, Doom Generation), Arcadiy Golubovich (Autopsy, American Summer), Electra Avellan (Grindhouse) and Elise Avellan (Grindhouse). Paramount finally reveals "Cloverfield"
While unleashing "Transformers" onscreen this week, Paramount also lifted the lid on a top-secret project in the form of a teaser trailer for a new film, Cloverfield. Yesterday the full details were finally revealed about this top secret project, which include casting and news that a huge viral marketing campaign is underway. Read on for the details :- "Cloverfield," which revolves around a monster attack in New York as told from the point of view of a small group of people, is being produced by J.J. Abrams. It is being directed by Matt Reeves, who co-created "Felicity" with Abrams, and is written by Drew Goddard, who has worked with Abrams on "Lost" and "Alias." Paramount greenlighted the project under a veil of heavy secrecy in February, about the same time that Abrams agreed to the take over the directing reins of the new "Star Trek" film. The casting process was just as mysterious. No scripts or even scene pages were sent out; agents who were contacted were simply asked if their client wanted to be in the movie or not. Eventually a cast, made up mostly of relative unknowns, was put together; it includes Michael Stahl-David ("The Black Donnellys"), Odet Jasmin, Mike Vogel ("Supercross") and Lizzy Kaplan ("The Class"). The movie, which is believed to have a relatively modest budget of about $30 million, began shooting in mid-June in New York. With "Transformers" generating huge tracking numbers in the weeks before its release, the studio decided to put footage from "Cloverfield" in a teaser in front of "Transformers" to build buzz. After first presenting the Paramount and Bad Robot logos -- Bad Robot being Abrams' shingle -- the trailer opens with scenes from a surprise going-away party in a New York bar with a view of the city. Before long, a thundering roar is heard, and by the time guests run downstairs, pandemonium and flaming debris are hitting the streets. After a huge explosion at the lower end of Manhattan, what appears to be the head of the Statue of Liberty comes hurtling up the street like a giant projectile. The trailer's footage is shot by a hand-held camera, home-movie style, giving it a sort of "Armageddon" meets "The Blair Witch Project" feel, though it is not clear if the entire movie follows that style. While the trailer does not reveal the name of the movie, it does announce a release date of January 18. Several copies of the trailer, seemingly shot in theaters with a camcorder, were posted on YouTube by Thursday morning. But by Thursday afternoon, some links had been taken down, replaced by an advisory saying, "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Paramount Pictures Corp." Producing the movie along with Abrams is Bryan Burk, who has worked on such Abrams shows as "Lost," "Six Degrees" and "What About Brian." Guy Riedel and Sherryl Clark are executive producing. "Cloverfield" is shooting in New York. Warner Bros Japan bringing new horror-fantasy movie NTV web and Warner Bros. Japan are joining forces to produce and distribute Shinigami no Seido (literal translation: Accuracy of the God of Death), a horror/fantasy starring Takeshi Kaneshiro. It has been reported that Kaneshiro plays a Grim Reaper who appears to his victims in human form and spends a week with them before deciding whether to off them or not. The pic is Kaneshiro's first to be shot in Japan since the Sci-Fi pic "Returners" in 2002. Manani Konishi co-stars as one of Kaneshiro's potential victims, while Masaya Kakehi is helming. NTV and Warner are both members of the pic's production consortium, while Warner will release the pic in Japan in the spring of 2008. The number of theaters has not yet been decided, but a Warner's rep said that the release "will be fairly large." The pic is based on an eponymous novel by Kotaro Isaka -- the writer's fifth to be made for the big screen. NTV and Warner also linked to produce and distrib last year's hit "Death Note" duology. The two pics also featured "gods of death" who use special notebooks to deal death simply by writing the victim's name inside. The drama begins when humans find the notebooks -- and use their new-found power of life-and-death to dubious ends. NTV is producing a spin-off based on the character of "L," a reclusive genius detective who investigates the identities of the Death Note owners, with Kenichi Matsuyama reprising his role as L and Hideo Nakata ("The Ring 2," "Kaidan") helming. Principal photography is scheduled to start in August, while Warner plans to release the pic in Japan in the first half of 2008. Disney's new foray into horror with "First Ascent" Screenwriter-turned-comic book publisher Andrew Cosby and Johanna Stokes have been hired to do a rewrite on Walt Disney Pictures' First Ascent. The film is described as a supernatural action adventure that revolves around a group of climbers who, while attempting to ascend a mountain in Bhutan, are attacked by an unseen beast. Jason Reed, Brigham Taylor and Casey Wolfe are overseeing the project for Disney. Disney's Animal Kingdom in Florida features a roller coaster ride, "Expedition Everest," that includes an encounter with a yeti, though Disney said that "Ascent" is a rewrite of an older project and is not related to the ride. Alexa Vega, Bill Moseley in "Saw" creator's next "musical"
Alexa Vega (Spy Kids) has been cast as Shiloh in Darren Lynn Bousman's (Saw II, II, IV) horror rock opera Repo! The Genetic Opera. She will begin shooting her scenes on August 27. In addition, this past weekend at the HorrorHound Weekend in Indianapolis it was revealed that horror fav Bill Moseley (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, House of 1000 Corpses, Devil's Rejects, Halloween) is in final talks to join the cast of Repo! The Genetic Opera. He will be joining the beautiful Alexa Vega. Director Darren Lynn Bousman made his return to the States recently to talk to journalists about SAW IV, which wrapped last week in Toronto, Canada. While chatting about Jigsaw’s latest installment, Bousman also found sometime to plug his next feature film, REPO!, a horror rock opera/musical which is a move in a completely new direction, “I don't know how different I can get than doing a rock opera – it’s like a side step out of the horror genre.” He tells that he likes his SAW crew and will continue to work with them as much as possible, “The same crew (as SAW III and Saw IV) doing REPO!... [at least] 95 percent the same crew.” He also talks about what type of film REPO! will be and how it will be more violent than SAW, “[The film is] a rock opera, a musical… it will be more violent than SAW in every aspect,” he explains, “It’s ROCKY HORROR [PICTURE SHOW] on acid.” What’s shocking is how many original songs will be written for the adaptation of the stage play, “There are 77 songs in REPO - RENT only had 19. [There will be] singing from beginning to end,” he explains, “One song might be 20 seconds, another 14 seconds and then one 5 minutes.” Think big, as he compares REPO! to JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and TOMMY – only with buckets of blood. Watch for the film in 2008. The film is slated to begin filming at the end of August in Canada. Horror In Your House for this week is More Disappointing It has been a painful few weeks of Horror In Your House as there really hasn't been anything worth trekking to your local retailers for. Sure there has been a few thing you might want to check out, but man, today is terrible. Here's a list of what hits stores today, maybe there's something you'll find interesting.
Fox announces "28 Weeks Later" DVD details Fox Home Entertainment has announced 28 Weeks Later on DVD, which will be available to own on October 9th and should retail at around $29.98. One of the best films we saw back in 2006 was Anchor Bay/Starz Entertainment's Behind the Mask: The Rise Of Leslie Vernon, which just hit DVD a week ago after premiering at SXSW in 2006. Directed by Scott Glosserman, the film starred Nathan Baesel, Robert Englund, Matt Bolt, Jenafer Brown, Krissy Carlson, Scott Wilson, Zelda Rubenstein, Angela Goethals and Kane Hodder. BEHIND THE MASK screenwriter David J Stieve recently talked about what would happen to Leslie Vernon should a BEHIND THE MASK 2 ever come to fruition. And it’s something the filmmakers have kept in mind this whole time. “I can tell you that there is a definite idea for what’s going to happen to Leslie Vernon next, that’s been the goal all along.” “Obviously the focus of that or the metaphor involved there, as it happened with Nathan as an actor or Scott as a director, or me as a writer, it’s how do you handle that “freshman phenom/rookie of the year” type thing! That’s the symbolism at play; how does Leslie handle his success? And of course you have the whole genre-specific constructions and conventions of a horror sequel. There’s specific conventions involved with every killer that comes back. How the town reacts, who the people are that survive, and who fills what role coming around again…so there are all these very specific genre expectations for a sequel that are ripe for the picking but there’s obviously the metaphor of how does Leslie as the ‘artist’ handle his fame, does he handle it well, does he burn out too quick, keep himself in check, does he do it right? There’s a very rich soil to till from a storytelling standpoint.” What would it take to make it happen? “There are a lot of what-ifs, and things to have to happen right in this business for that to ever come to fruition, but certainly if there’s going to be another horror movie coming from me, my biggest impulse, of course, is to relate what happens to Leslie next. Depending on how the DVD does, etc. that’s the impetus.” You can read the entire interview with Stieve here. Newest take on Dracula legend has Proyas at the helm
The amazing Alex Proyas (Dark City, The Crow, I, Robot) will direct Dracula Year Zero, Universal's origins tale about Vlad the Impaler. The script chronicles the epic origin of Dracula, weaving vampire mythology with the true history of Prince Vlad the Impaler. It depicts Dracula as a flawed hero in a tragic love story set in a dark age of magic and war, repositioning him more as a vengeful hero than the monster seen in Bram Stoker's classic novel. The project, being produced by Michael De Luca, is one of several in the works about the Romanian royal who inspired Bram Stoker's vampire tale. Proyas was attracted to the script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, enthusing over their "fresh take on the legend." He said the project manages to play off the horror and the sympathy you have for a character that "sells his soul to the Devil to save his kingdom and family." The scribes, who set up the project a year ago, said the goal was to show Vlad when he was still vital and to explore the fact that he's considered a hero in Romania for fending off the Turks. "Usually when you see him, he's past his prime and 100 years old," Sazama said. "In our movie, he's at the height of his powers," Sharpless added. "Dracula Year Zero" reunites Proyas with De Luca, who shepherded "Dark City" when he was a New Line exec. It's also one of several monster movies in the works at the studio, which is prepping a third installment in its "Mummy" franchise and a "Wolf Man" redo starring Benicio Del Toro. "One of the cool things about this is that we're doing it at Universal," Sharpless said. "This is the home of monster movies." The script was the first spec sale for the writing partners, who are busy on a couple of other Universal projects, including Zack Snyder's "Cobalt 60." Dueling Dracula projects set up around town include "The Historian," a contempo book about the search for Vlad the Impaler's grave that Brad Caleb Kane is adapting for Sony's Red Wagon shingle, and "Castlevania," an adaptation of a popular video-game for which Rogue recently signed up director Sylvain White ("Stomp the Yard"). Omen's director bringing "The Book of Lost Things" Director John Moore (The Omen) has optioned feature rights to dark fantasy "The Book of Lost Things" by bestselling Irish author John Connolly. Published last year, book centers on a 12-year-old English boy whose mother died and father remarried. When a portal to another world opens, the boy enters a land of beasts and monsters, where he must undertake a quest to earn his way back out. Cover Art and Full Details revealed for "The Tripper" DVD Fox Home Entertainment has announced horror satire The Tripper on DVD, which stars Thomas Jane, Jason Mewes, Lukas Haas and Jamie King. Trick 'r Treat, which has now moved to an undisclosed 2008 date from it's original October 5 plan. The movie has four interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: An everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the one guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband. First Official Images from "Doomsday" Today Rogue Pictures supplied the first official look at Doomsday, which is slated for release next year. "Doomsday," written by Neil Marshall (The Descent), is set three decades after a lethal virus tore through a major country, leading to the country's walling off. When the virus, known as the Reaper, resurfaces in another country, an elite group is dispatched to the infected country to find a cure. There, they end up shut off from the rest of the world and must battle through a landscape that has become a waking nightmare. You can view the images here. New images for Lindsay Lohan's "I Know Who Killed Me"
Yesterday Columbia Pictures released a batch of new stills from Chris Sivertson's I Know Who Killed Me, which hits theaters on July 27. In the film an idyllic small town is rocked when Aubrey Fleming (Lindsay Lohan), a bright and promising young woman, is abducted and tortured by a sadistic serial killer. When she manages to escape, the traumatized girl who regains consciousness in the hospital insists that she is not who they think she is and that the real Aubrey Fleming is still in mortal danger. You can view the set of stills here. "Reeker" coming to DVD in September You can finally check out Dave Payne's Reeker on Showtime with a DVD release slated for September 25 from Paramount, nearly a year after it was originaly planned for release. No word yet on extras. In the film uoung strangers trapped at an eerie travel oasis in the desert must unravel the mystery behind their visions of dying people while they are preyed upon by a decaying creature. Despite the decent gore quotient (there are missing body parts aplenty by the end) and plot twists, there’s also a good deal of well-placed and genuinely funny comedy – which is almost unheard of in a genre bursting with cheap lowbrow humor and ill-executed gags. First Official Poster revealed for James Wan's "Death Sentence" Yesterday the first official poster was released from director James Wan's (Saw, Dead Silence) latest effort, Death Sentence, starring Kevin Bacon, which hits theaters on August 31. The story centers on a father out for revenge after his family is attacked in a senseless and heinous gang-initiation crime. The father enacts a death sentence on each perpetrator involved with the crime. You can view the poster here. Behind The Mask director's new foray Paramount Vantage has pre-emptively picked up Playing House, a horror project that Scott Glosserman (Behind the Mask) will direct and co-write with Macy Raymond, who penned the original short story that the film will be based on. Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson's Contrafilm are producing along with Glosserman. The plot revolves around a down-on-their-luck young couple who are preyed upon when they inhabit a seemingly deserted island mansion. Glosserman most recently co-wrote and directed the horror comedy "Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon," which had its premiere at last year's South by Southwest Film Festival. Anchor Bay recently released the movie theatrically. William Friedkin's "Bug" coming on DVD September 25 You missed it and you should regret it, although it's NOT a horror movie. William Friedkin's Bug carries some of the most powerful performances of the year, and has drawn comparisons to David Cronenberg's and Roman Polanski's works. Today details on the DVD release were declared, which slated it for a September 25 release from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...HL._SS500_.jpg The DVD will carry an audio commentary by Friedkin along with two featurettes: "BUG: An Introduction" and "A Discussion with William Friedkin". You can pre-order your copies from here. Newest trailer:- I Know Who Killed Me (Releasing on July 27). Official 'Drink' of "Cloverfield" viral marketing campaign underway
After the success of Nine Inch Nails' campaign for Year Zero, Paramount Pictures and JJ Abrams have stepped in with the same idea for their untitled horror film, which is going under various names "Cloverfield", "1-18-08" and now... "Slusho"? Alright, you know how Cloverfield/1-18-08 is going viral? Paramount releases the trailer attached to Transformers, there’s camcorder versions of it uploaded to video sharing sites, officially no one is talking about the project… And then IGN reports that Cloverfield/1-18-08 may be using the alias of “Slusho” for the filming of a Paramount movie happening right now in L.A. The set calls for “200 extras. Military vehicles. Destruction aftermath. Weapons brandished. Emergency vehicles with flashing lights. Exterior dialogue on fire escape on 8th floor.” And then J.J. Abrams drops this bomb: “For what it’s worth, the only site of ours that people have even FOUND is the 1-18-08.com site. The others (like the Ethan Haas sites) have nothing to do with us.” Then explain this J.J. ‘cuz it’s smoking gun proof that a weird beverage website marketing a drink called Slusho belongs to your new movie. There's a screengrab from the 1-18-08 trailer, right before the action moves to the rooftop. See that dude’s shirt? Slusho. And the logo looks exactly like the drink found on the Slusho website. It gets weirder: read the history page on the Slusho website (http://www.slusho.jp/index.html). It talks about a woman named Noriko that wanted to discover a new beverage flavor. Noriko set out across the ocean and was never heard from again. Her son, Ganu, grew up and continued his mother’s research...exploring the ocean for possible flavors. Did you get that? The ocean. And then one day Ganu “discovered a deep sea ingredient unique to anything else.” He had a mysterious dream and realized that he had found the secret beverage flavor...and thus Slusho was born. Slusho. From the bottom of the sea floor. Nice way of marketing, wouldn't you agree?:D "Dead Like Me" coming direct-to-video One of the more popular shows of the past few years was Showtime's Dead Like Me, which was cancelled prematurely by the cable station. The show was extremely popular and almost made it's return to your living room weekly and although you won't see a new series, the direct-to-video movie is progressing nicely as casting has officially begun! The film is to be directed by Steven Herek off a screenplay by John Masius, who worked on the original series as writer and producer. Right now the cast includes Ellen Muth, Callum Blue, Britt McKillit, Jasmine Guy and Cynthia Stevenson with the hopes of bringing in some extra "names" to the cast. Daisy will be recast. When Calvin Kane, a slick businessman who couldn't care less about helping the newly dead, takes over Rube's Head Reaper duties, all hell breaks loose, bringing out the worst in Daisy, Roxy, and Mason. George, however, is determined to set her latest, botched reap right, especially because the boy who was supposed to die, Hudson Hart, is her little sister Reggie's secret boyfriend. In the process, George and Reggie re-connect for real, for the first time. Filming is now underway in Montreal, Canada. "Infestation" Official website up, casting widened It was announced via the newly launched official website (http://www.infestationthemovie.com/) that Bru Muller, Brooke Nevin (I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer) and Ray Wise (Jeepers Creepers 2) will be joining Chris Marquette in Kyle Rankin's horror-comedy Infestation. Infestation follows a slacker (Marquette) who awakes to find himself weak, wrapped in webbing and cocooned to the wall of his office. After realizing that the world has been taken over by giant alien insects, he wakes a ragtag group of strangers and together they fight for survival. Robert Kurtzman speaks about "The Rage" Do you love guts, gore and madness? Then I'm quite sure you're going to dig The Rage, a new film from KNB co-founder Robert Kurtzman. The film follows a crazed scientist experimenting with a rage virus on innocent victims in a laboratory in the woods. When his monstrous subjects escape and vultures devour their remains, they became mutations seeking to feed on humans. With the virus spreading across the countryside, a group of young ladies unwittingly stumble upon the scientist’s secret lab and a night of unimaginable horror ensues when his family of flesh-eating freaks arises for dinner. Kurtzman says, "I am a huge fan of drive in films and the whole audience participation experience. We wanted to make our drive-in film… A gorilla style rocket ride that embraced all the B-movie qualities of low budget movies we’d grown up on. We had a very small budget and we had to raise the funding ourselves. We shot the film in 25 days and we decided the most important thing for us to do was to entertain and have fun. So the entire film is an over the top yell at the screen kind of experience." New Trailer:- James Wan's Death Sentence. Just so you know, the Slusho site was discovered AFTER that Abrams interview was posted on AICN. People might have found it before, but it wasn't as widely known as the Ethan Haas stuff...it wasnt public knowledge until after the interview.

John Carpenter returning to L.A. big "Gothic"-time?
This gets me excited – damn excited. John Carpenter hasn’t done anything for a few years now – largely because no one would finance his idea for a “Thing” sequel, let alone the other projects he was shopping around – excluding some TV, but apparently the holiday is over. The master of the genre – “The Thing”, “Escape from New York” or “Big Trouble in little China” – is rumoured to be making his comeback on a creature feature called “L.A Gothic”. According to a tipster, “….the script has various chapters but they all revolve around a Preist and his Teen-age daughter and that there are a ton of creatures in it. It's supposed to have vampires, zombies and a demon-possesed rock-star. He said it all takes place in LA over a couple of days and that it's vintage Carpenter with tons of gore and action.” Hopefully Kurt Russell will be in this baby. And is this the big one HDC's own Roderick Usher been scripting?!;) Marilyn Manson still keeping "Phantasmagoria" alive It was once though last year that shock-rocker Marilyn Manson was off shooting his first feature film, Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Caroll, only it was revealed in preparation for his latest CD release (Eat Me, Drink Me) that the process of prepping the film was draining him and taking up all of his free time. Now that Manson rushed through his latest effort (and wasted all of our money), he can now focus on his tour... and finally filming his first movie. "Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll" is still "very much happening," Manson said. "We postponed the film until after this tour, so probably November, December." Manson, based in Los Angeles, wrote the screenplay, and plans to direct and star in the movie. Besides Manson cast as author Carroll, the film will feature Lily Cole, Tilda Swinton and Manson's girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood. Manson said he plans to compose music for the movie as well. Of his decision to delay the film's production, Manson said, "I read Lewis Carroll's diaries, and he's a very fractured soul. I think I identified with it more than just fascination; I was in the same mental state. So I think, by waiting, I'll be able to make a better movie." The film takes place in Victorian England where a haunted writer in an isolated castle is tormented by sleepless nights and visions of a girl named Alice. He finds himself becoming a symptom of his own invention. “Now all my nightmares know my name.” He is Lewis Carroll. Terrified of what waits for him each night. On-set details from Romero's "Diary of the Dead" Read on for a report from the sets of Romero's latest shooting in Canada... "...Michael Felsher (Red Shirt Pictures): He’s wanted to go back to his independent roots for a while, especially with the zombie films because the last independent zombie film he did was “Day” back in 1985. He’s wanted to get back to his roots and kind of do guerilla filmmaking again. He’s said that to me several times. He’s said that to a lot of people. Because “Land” was a rough experience. It was a grueling shoot. He is extremely proud of “Land” and he’s very happy with the way it turned out, but I think this is more of a return to the kind of filmmaking he used to do in the seventies..." "...Michelle Morgan (Debra): We’re film students making a mummy movie at the beginning and then the dead begin to walk and we all escape together in a Winnebago..." "...Michael Felsher (Red Shirt Pictures): The Winnebago has a TV in it and one of the characters comes out and says, “Hey, what’s all this on the news?” They leave and try to get home, but very quickly everything has gone to hell and they’re just trying to survive on their own..." "...Scott Wentworth (Professor Maxwell): So they’ve got all this equipment and, while they’re trying to get home, this student Jason feels the need to sort of document the experience so he becomes a sort of diarist and is uploading the film he’s shooting on the internet and kind of assembling the movie that we’re watching as it goes along..." "...Michael Felsher (Red Shirt Pictures): It occurs over two days. They try to hole up in a few different places, but basically it’s all about them being on their own and trying to survive. They quickly come to the realization that there is no safe harbor and so they’re never at any one given place for that long..." "...Scott Wentworth (Professor Maxwell): Maxwell is the film professor who teaches the students who are making the film-within-the-film, but you only catch a very small glimpse at the beginning of how he might function as a teacher. Once people start coming back from the dead and these guys decide they’ve got to start heading for their various homes, he ends up going along for the ride. It’s kind of interesting that an authority figure is sort of stripped of all authority and then has to kind of regain it through his actions and not through the fact that he gets to sit at the front of the class. It’s not an orthodox, older person, voice-of-authority. The voice-of-authority that emerges in this film is Debra, the young woman..." "...Michael Felsher (Red Shirt Pictures): There’s no conventional camera watching everything. It’s told literally through the eyes of a filmmaker. As they’re trying to escape and get back to their homes and find out what’s going on, he’s taping the whole thing. His opinion is that this has to be documented and he becomes kind of obsessed with it. So we never really see the director. And they pick up a couple of cameras along the way. So it’s only seen from the cameras that the kids are shooting from..." "...Paula Devonshire (line producer): One of the surviving characters goes around and accesses all these things, whether it’s someone’s cell phone, whether it’s Jason’s video camera, whether it’s another camera they find along the way, whether it’s security camera footage that may come from hospitals -- or wherever they’re at -- and then that person has compiled this movie from the tapes that they have accessed..." "...Michelle Morgan (Debra): The idea is that Jason has made this movie, has filmed everything, and you’re watching the finished product after it has been edited together. So it’s not supposed to be continuous, like, every single moment..." "...John Harrison (executive producer): It’s not gonna be “Blair Witch.” It’s not just gonna be a handheld camera that’s found in the woods somewhere. It’s a little more sophisticated than that. George has a really sophisticated stylistic sensibility about how this movie is going to play out. The best way I can describe it is that it’s a real documentary, in a way, of what’s going on. You know those guys in New York who just happened to be there when the planes hit the towers and then got all that great footage? It’s got that kind of feel and that kind of immediacy..." "...Michael Felsher (Red Shirt Pictures): This is a new technique of filming for George. He’s doing things that he’s never attempted before. He’s not relying on a lot of -- I don’t want to say “tricks of the trade” -- but you know, there’s no musical score in this film. In some ways, he’s limiting himself in what he can do, but that’s opening up whole new creative avenues to express himself. I mean, he’s in his late sixties now and most filmmakers, at that point, are just happy to coast on what they’ve done before. But George is consistently pushing himself and consistently trying new things and trying to learn more about filmmaking. This film will be as distinctive as any film he’s ever done..." "...John Harrison (executive producer): It’s a more personal story, it’s a more intimate production, and it’s going to be every bit as powerful and maybe more [than “Land of the Dead”]. I’m a good friend of his [Romero] and I think I’ve heard him talk about it and I share his opinion about this. The baggage that comes with doing a huge, big studio movie -- there are advantages to the extent that you can do some big shots, you can do some epic production value kinds of things -- but at the end of it, the movie has got to have a great story and great characterizations. And we have much more control on a smaller movie like this. I don’t think George would say for one minute that he’s deprived of anything he wants to do to make this movie. He’s got all the resources..." "...John Harrison (executive producer): Well it’s not a sequel. It’s not a continuation of the story. George is actually back-flipping to the “Night of the Living Dead” era when the whole mythology began. Even though it’s updated and it’s set today -- it’s not set in 1968 -- it’s really kind of the beginnings of the thing again. But it’s told in a completely different and unique way so we’re kind of getting into the mythology of it a little bit more, some detail about how it starts and what happens to people and it’s told in a really unique way. This whole thing about it being a documentary about what’s going on, I think makes it really visceral, really immediate. So again, it’s not a continuation of the mythology, it’s not where the zombies have come to and how they’ve become more intelligent. It’s kind of going back to the beginning..." "Wrong Turn 2: Dead End" Unrated DVD Coming in October
Terror takes a frightening turn. Fox Home Entertainment presents a graphic and disturbing homage to the 1980s splatter sequels when WRONG TURN 2: DEAD END comes around the bend on DVD October 9. A film that “eagerly serves up the juicy stuff,” and is highly anticipated by horror fans, this chilling sequel to the surprise hit film returns to the woods of West Virginia; a backdrop for the new reality television show “The Apocalypse: Ultimate Survivalist.” As the contestants compete in various challenges to test their physical and mental prowess they soon find themselves in a fight for their lives as they are stalked and hunted by a family of mutant, inbred cannibals. From first-time director Joe Lynch, recently named one of Gorezone magazine’s “Gore Group” - a list of audacious horror directors that included such notable names as Rob Zombie (Halloween, The Devils Rejects) and Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever), WRONG TURN 2: DEAD END features a talented cast of young horror veterans including Erica Leerhsen (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2), Texas Battle (Final Destination 3), Daniella Alonso (The Hills Have Eyes II, Hood of Horror), Crystal Lowe (Black Christmas, Snakes on a Plane), Aleksa Palladino (The Ring Two) and the incomparable Henry Rollins (Feast, Lost Highway). Available only in an Unrated Edition featuring intense and shocking footage, WRONG TURN 2: DEAD END includes feature commentary from Rollins, Leerhsen and Lynch, an additional commentary track with writers Turi Meyer and Al Septien, behind-the-scenes featurettes and more. DVD Special Features: The WRONG TURN 2: DEAD END DVD is presented in widescreen (1.78:1) with English Dolby Surround 5.1, French & Spanish Dolby Stereo plus English and Spanish subtitles. Bonus content includes: - “More Blood, More Guts: The Making of Wrong Turn 2: Dead End” featurette - “Making Gore Look Good” featurette - “On Location With P-Nut” - Feature commentary by director Joe Lynch and actors Erica Leerhsen and Henry Rollins - Feature commentary by writers Turi Meyer and Al Septien - Wrong Turn 2: Dead End Trailer WRONG TURN 2: DEAD END is available for a suggested retail price of $26.98 U.S./ $37.98 Canada. New "Death Sentence" poster has a kickass Kevin Bacon I wasn't a huge fan of the first poster for 20th Century Fox's Death Sentence, which everyone has seen earlier in this thread, but the new poster is insanely awesome! Here's an exclusive look at the Comic Con poster for James Wan's (Saw, Dead Silence) latest directorial effort, which stars Kevin Bacon, Garrett Hedlun, Kelly Preston, John Goodman, Aisha Tyler, Leigh Whannell, Matt O'Leary, Yorgo Constantine and Jordan Garrett. The story centers on a father out for revenge after his family is attacked in a senseless and heinous gang-initiation crime. The father enacts a death sentence on each perpetrator involved with the crime. Death Sentence hits theaters everywhere on August 31st. New trailers:- Wrong Turn 2: Dead End Unrated trailer. I have some questions.
First, is Horror in your House a dvd box set? Because I don't recall seeing such sets over here. Second, Misery's dvd releasing on Oct 2 and Wrong Turn 2 Dead End on Oct 9. Those are dates for the official international dvds to be released, or just in USA? I cannot wait for both of those, especially Wrong Turn 2. I would be very glad if someone clears that for me. |

As for the second part, I think those DVD release dates are for the US versions...not sure about the international ones, unless the respective companies are releasing them worldwide. I ll look into it and PM you later, Kane. |
Just want to take some time to thank V for all his contribution to this forum. Its people like him that have kept me coming back after all the bullshit.
