I just sent newb a list of 75. There might be a few 2010's in there, but I assume they'll be removed some time in the organizational process. A sad, sad amount of remakes and sequels.
|
Roderick Usher has sent in his choices to me through Facebook. I am forwarding them to you, Zero. Please go through them.
|
Great project, V! I'll sent my entry soon to Newb. :)
|
Mine are in.
|
Would it be bad if 80% of my choices were asian horror. I feel like they are the only people making decent enough movies to list in the 2000s.

Sorry for being a latecomer, can I be in Zeros group? it looks a bit more challenging since my memory is going on me.

Been following both threads closely, and I must say fantastic work done so far by all of you, folks.
Hats off to the efforts by each and every one of you, despite this being Halloween season and I can imagine how busy you all might be in your lives right now. Keep up the awesome work you all are doing, and I hope to see more and more people chip in as we go on. Right now, keeping the festive season in mind, I am thinking mid-November for the deadline for deliberations. (that will give those who are ultra-busy with Halloween stuff 15 more days after October to chip in with their choices and views) Good luck. Let the deliberations continue. |
Where's V? Hope everything is going fine with him & he'll be back soon here. Really looking forward to see what turn out HDC's ultimate 200 for 00-09!
Anyway, while working with the lists I've just finished my personal compilation of 100 films of the decade.:) |

I thought __V__ said he was in the process of moving into a new house. It might take a while to get internet service up and running. |

I'm really getting worried about __V__ now. Does anyone have an update? |
I guess this has died. I really wanted that list.:(
|
No, my dear. Collating all entries from both Newb's and Zero's threads right now.
Expect the sticky up within the next few days! *watches WickerFan jump out of her chair and whoop in joy* :D Errrr... :o |

Second set of 100 posted.
Thread is stickied and open, folks. :) |
I watched the last film in your Honorable Mentions just a few days ago.
I WAS disappointed. |
Its a wonderful little film IMO. I am sure all those who chose it in their recs in Newb's team and finalised it, liked it too.
Well, I trust someone from Newb's group will have to reply to that. |
Now I demand NE's complete list of "Pieces of Crap"!:D
|
Still haven't seen this 20 out of total 250:o:
Acacia Aragami Battlefield Baseball Blood Feast 2: All You Can Eat Club dread Evil Aliens Little Otik Open Water Psycho Beach Party The Happiness of the Katakuris The Ninth Gate Vidocq (aka) Dark Portals: The Chronicles of Vidocq Wild Zero Save the Green Planet (2003) Sars Wars (2004) Incident At Loch Ness (2004) Izo (2004) Plaga Zombie: Mutant Zone (2001) R.S.V.P. (2002) Rahtree: Flower of the Night (2003) Sad to see that they couldn’t make in the Tops::( Alone (aka) Faet (2007) Cold Prey 2 (aka) Fritt Vilt 2 (2008) Hard Candy (2005) Noroi: The Curse (2005) Orphan (2009) Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006) Right at your Door (2006) Silk (2006) Splinter (2008) Strange Circus (2005) The Red Shoes (2005) Didn’t like that much: 30 days of Night Carriers Diary of the Dead Doomsday Jeepers Creepers Laid to Rest My Name is Bruce The Signal Versus White Noise But overall another superb compilation for HDC. Great job done. |
I'd highly recommend Open Water, The Ninth Gate, and Incident At Loch Ness out of that list of films you haven't seen yet.
|
Overall, yes, a fine list.
But IMO, some real flubs on there, that will cause some to doubt the verasity of the premise. We'll gloss over the fact that somehow Rob Zombie's Halloween got on there, and go straight to- Halloween TWO?? Give me a break! |
Are you trying to get me killed?
|
Again, a call for Newb's team members. :D
Roshiq, Wicker, care to answer NE's two queries so far? |

The thing is when the voting started I think some/most of the voters didn't get much of options to "chose the best/better film" as most likely many of us here haven't seen most of those modern films that we nominated and we tried our best to give every little good film a fair chance. So it's my guess that some voted those few films (whether good, bad or crap) that they got chance/managed to see.
Now as far Rob Zombie's Halloween 1, 2 or both goes, I think it's overall got a mixed feelings from the viewers/fans. Original Halloween is so iconic that some fan just can't able to hate anything that got something to do with Michael Myers whether that's a bad or mediocre sequel or a remake coming after so many years. Personally I even didn't hated that much Zombie's Halloween & the sequel. As Rob Zombie films, both were fairly watchable & enjoyable, IMO. Although it was daring but I liked the idea (whatever good or bad) Mr. Zombie tried to put & play with Michael Myers legacy as a director in his own terms or point of views. But personally I didn't want Halloween 2 to make in the final/top list but I knew it'd do eventually as it was getting favorable votes from the voters here. Whether big or low budget or indie effort, now a days there are plenty of new horror films are coming out every year but good or quality films doesn't come so frequently or fans somehow missed them to watch for their limited or late wide scale release. But fans always want or eager to see or waiting for good films and then when they got something bit unusual or a mediocre one in the middle of plenty of bad releases or after a long absent period of desired quality horror film then I think sometimes some of us overwhelmingly 'welcome' or tag them as a good one. ZMD is a mediocre zombedy, IMO. Quote:

Pieces of crap was probably too strong of a term, so I'll just say IMO none of the following films deserve to be on any list that begins with the word "best" or "top."
2001 Maniacs (2005) Bug (2006) Freddy vs. Jason (2003) Friday the 13th (2009) Halloween (2007) Halloween II (2009) Jason X (2001) Jeepers Creepers (2001) Jeepers Creepers 2 (2003) Saw II (2005) Saw III (2006) The Midnight Meat Train (2008) The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (2003) Thir13en Ghosts (2001) Alien vs. Predator (2004) Cube 2 : Hypercube (2002) Zombies of Mass Destruction (2009) And as an addition, if Cabin Fever is on the list, I think Cabin Fever 2 should be as well- it's better than the first film. |
I'm sure I put some of those on my list, but I can't come up with a good argument in their defense.:o
I voted for films I watched and didn't hate, but some of them are kind of cheesy. |
