I love TCM3 as well, it's honestly my favorite of the original four TCM films.

I love the zaniness of 2 and Bill Moseley, but I really love TCM3.

Alfredo kills me everytime. When Ken Foree walks up and goes "Sshh. This gun makes an awfully loud noise. And an awfully big hole" and Alfredo's expression and response of "Do I know you?" makes me about piss my pants everytime.

I just love the whole vibe of that movie. It's a shame most people don't enjoy it.

Jigsaw Killer 06-27-2013 02:13 PM

It's probably just because the film (and the other TCMs past the original) are in the shadow of the first movie which is absolutely legendary and there's just no way any film past it can live up to it in most peoples' eyes. That may be true, but seperate TCM3 from the first and it's actually really good.

Friday The 13th - Part III

Halloween - 1978 Original

A Nightmare On Elm Street - New Nightmare

Saw - Saw

Scream - Original

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - Tobe Hooper's original

Alien - Alien

Predator - Predator

Phantasm - Phantasm II

Evil Dead - Evil Dead II

Hellraiser - Original

Child's Play - Bride of Chucky (because it is sooooo funny)

Final Destination - Original

Jigsaw Killer 07-04-2013 06:43 AM

Finally, someone else who likes New Nightmare the best :)

Jigsaw Killer 07-11-2013 03:39 PM

Having seen Demons again as well as Demons 2 for the first time, maybe the Demons films are eligible for this topic? It seems after Demons 2 a bunch of unofficial sequels got made, which in turn probably doesn't make Demons eligible since it's best if we just count official entries.

Jigsaw Killer 07-15-2013 10:07 AM

Another series I remembered was Re-Animator. Only seen the first one and liked it a lot.

Jigsaw Killer 07-25-2013 11:20 PM

On the subject of anthologies, I remembered Nightmares, Body Bags and the two Trilogy Of Terror movies. I haven't seen any in so long (I've never even seen the original TOT, just the original), but I recall my favorite segments in each respective one were the Bishop Of Battle, the gas station segment in Body Bags and of course the Zuni Doll segment in TOT2.

I recently got a copy of The Exorcist from a friend and will be seeing it soon for the first time (both versions). Should I see the prequels first? I always like seeing a series in chronological order for the first time.

The prequel The Beginning was not great, but it is worth a watch. I would say stick with the chronological viewing. I have heard The Exorcist III was good too, but, despite owning it, I have not seen it yet. I am very surprised that you have not seen that one yet, it is a classic. I will say that I do not watch it very often and am not a huge fan, but I do not deny that it is an excellent film in many ways.

Jigsaw Killer 08-05-2013 07:48 PM

I know, I often feel like an outsider for not having seen it. It has two prequels, The Beginning and Dominion, the latter of which was made first but then made again as the former when the studio wanted it to be a more mainstream Horror film.

Jigsaw Killer 08-11-2013 04:17 PM

I literally finished watching The Exorcist for the first time just now and thought it was very good. I want to see the rest of the series at some point, but I have my doubts they're on par with the original. The Heretic in particular seems much-maligned.

Jigsaw Killer 08-16-2013 04:47 PM

Back to anthologies, The ABCS Of Death sounds interesting, anyone here seen it?

HorrorJ 08-23-2013 03:28 PM

Friday The 13th - Part II

Halloween - I but II is close

A Nightmare On Elm Street - I

Saw - II because we get to "know" Jigsaw

Scream - II

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - I

Alien - I

Predator - I

Phantasm - II

Evil Dead - I

Hellraiser - Oooh, first one!

Child's Play - I

Final Destination - I

Jigsaw Killer 08-25-2013 06:53 PM

2 is close behind the original Halloween for me too, always liked how they're so close with the continuity and timeframe.

Jigsaw Killer 08-29-2013 03:06 PM

Can't believe I didn't mention the Psycho films before as far as I know. I have yet to see any of them except for the fourth, which I remember catching on TV as a kid and liking.

You need to see the first. It is one of the best horror movies of all time, in my opinion. One of the few films I would possibly consider perfect. The second is pretty good too. Of course, it does not compare to the first.

Jigsaw Killer 09-01-2013 05:35 PM

I'll give them all a look, sometime. I've also been watching Bates Motel on A&E, which so far has been very good.

Jigsaw Killer 09-04-2013 04:40 PM

The V/H/S discussion in my better Horror sequels thread reminded me I have yet to see either V/H/S film, I'm interested to see both and see how the segments are.

Jigsaw Killer 09-06-2013 02:33 PM

I think I forgot the Night Of The Demons films before, I believe I've only seen bits of the first and third movies.

I didn't know there was more than one, I'll have to look out for them. I remember the first being part of a "Masters of the Macabre" film season on BBC2 when I was about 12 ... one of the things that first got me really into horror.

Jigsaw Killer 09-08-2013 02:49 PM

NOTD has two sequels and a remake.

Jigsaw Killer 09-13-2013 09:43 PM

I don't think I mentioned Wishmaster before, did I? I've seen the first two and liked them both, with the original being better.

DrFrankensteinsGirl 09-13-2013 11:09 PM

"Enjoy that dead girl's body"

Jigsaw Killer 09-14-2013 02:04 PM

I liked Rob Zombie's Halloween remake as well. Not the best but I found it to be an interesting re-imagining of the original storyline.

Jigsaw Killer 09-30-2013 02:03 AM

Looking through I think the topic has covered just about all the notable Horror series, any I missed? I'm sure there's probably a few. Wishmaster comes to mind, seen the first two and liked both.

realdealblues 09-30-2013 06:35 AM

Somewhere I have a master list of Horror movies with 3 or more films. I think most of the important ones have been mentioned though.

Jigsaw Killer 09-30-2013 05:40 PM

I probably forgot a few of them but it looks like most of the notables have been mentioned.

Jigsaw Killer 10-05-2013 12:55 AM

I don't think I added the Poltergeist trilogy before. My opinion is controversial as I like Poltergeist II the best, though the original is also excellent. I slightly prefer the sequel as Kane is a great villain and incredibly frightening.

Jigsaw Killer 10-13-2013 03:19 AM

Having watched the Tales From The Darkside movie for the first time in many years earlier, I think my new favorite segment in it is Lover's Vow. All three of the stories in it are good, but that one in particular is the most mature and well-crafted, IMO.

Friday The 13th - Jason Lives

Halloween - Original

A Nightmare On Elm Street - Original

Saw - IV

Jigsaw Killer 10-28-2013 05:14 PM

The other ones you haven't seen?

TheFext 10-28-2013 10:13 PM

I've seen Evil Dead series but it was too long ago. I can't remember which is which. And I havn't seen the remake. I'm gonna go though evil dead again. I think I'm starting today :)

Jigsaw Killer 10-29-2013 12:45 PM

The remake was surprisingly good, definitely worth seeing.

Agreed, I thought it was pretty enjoyable. Decent fx and some great moments.

Jigsaw Killer 10-29-2013 03:06 PM

I saw it in theaters when it was out too, definitely had a good time.

Jigsaw Killer 11-03-2013 10:19 PM

One series I remembered was the Slumber Party Massacre films. I recall seeing one or two back in the 90s on USA's Up All Night when they still had that.

TheFext 11-04-2013 12:28 AM

SPOILER
Code:

I saw Evil dead remake acouple of nights ago. I enjoyed it. A worthy remake indeed. I had no problem with it exept for the girl just walking away in the end with her arm cut off. Wouldn't she faint after she killed the last demon? Or die of blood loss. Whatever. it was a really good movie still.
