You can survive a fall from 30-40 feet without breaking bones or ending up a parapalegic.

In 1983 while hiking in the Olympic Mts in WA St. I slipped and fell off a cliff that was estimated to be about 33ft and landed stomach first . Other than some major bruising and a nasty concussion I managed to walk out with my grandfather. People do survive falls unscathed all the time. Its is just the luck of the draw whether you get hurt or not.

well, like someone else said - he also survived an explosion ...

it's not just this movie - its most of them ... mortal slasher manics that cant be killed ...

Halloween's Michael being the prime example .. shot multiple times, stabbed in the eye ... etc ... since then every bloody movie does the same thing .. shoot him, put him down, but he'll always sit up and grab your ankle when you walk past.

if the victims were this hard to kill the maniacs would be nothing more than a mild annoyance.

i know you arent supposed to dwell on these things - you just put your brain in neutral and watch in a state uf numbness - but after a while it starts to grate on me..

Who says that your typical slasher is mortal? I think Micheal was inteneded to seem superhuman, it added to some bit of mystery about his character.

TheOmen 07-01-2005 09:26 PM

I don't mind if the maniac killer gets up repeatedly from gun shots, or what have you. That adds to the mystique.

I agree to a point. It never bothered me about Halloween though; Michael Myers is obviously intended to represent an unstoppable evil. He isn't simply a mortal slasher, but something more. And I think it works really well in the first Halloween film. In other movies, it doesn't always seem to be defined in that way.

Anne 07-06-2005 12:12 PM

Not too bad,but then I'VE SEEN TOO MANY "ZOMBIE" CANNIBAL FILMS,LOL!

The Wrong Turn was better than "Saw",but then that would be "no contest "! Too many bad cannibal "zombie films around to find comparisons. I am new, also;have mercy on me too!

yeah in halloween it kind of works ... but i never really got the sense that he had supernatural powers ..

i have an ex-boss that i believe is the embodyment of evil bit i'm pretty sure a couple of bullets would stop him ..

at any rate every slasher film since has grabbed the ball and run with it ...

apparently no slasher can be killed until you remove his head from his body ..

(and if they want another sequal they'll find a way around that too)

i guess thats the key isnt it ... its all about the sequal ..

crazy raplh 07-07-2005 03:53 PM

and Jason as well.

crippler666 07-08-2005 12:28 PM

What we fear we destroy, we fear Michael, but we can't destroy him

So it is fear amplified

Demon Seed 07-13-2005 12:57 PM

I loved this movie

Very well said.

I thought this movie was horrible and a waste of my viewing time.

Wrong Turn

I rented this one last night and despite some glaring errors -- I thought overall that it worked.

First, the weaknesses:

- When you watch crazed mutants mutilate your friend and carve up her dead body, DO NOT sneak out of their shack of horrors on tip toes as they sleep. It's time to grab the two-sided axe and chainsaw for a little payback.

- Never hide in a fire tower at night and then turn on the lights if you expect not to get noticed by said crazed mutants.

There was nothing really new about "Wrong Turn" (we've seen it all before), but I thought the movie was rescued by some strong acting performances and some good directing (it also benefitted by being a relatively short 84 minutes). I wouldn't rank it at the top of the heap by any stretch -- but a decent outing.

And better than "Ginger Snaps" by a horse length.

whoa...someone lost their marbles in a real hurry...

tic 10-27-2006 09:30 AM

and Eliza Dushku was in it which kind of helps. :D

I have seen it a couple of times both on the big screen and dvd - similar to Texas Chainsaw - family of cannibals etc

I think a prequel is on the way, which will focus more on the family rather than the victims.

slayer666 10-27-2006 10:08 AM

I liked Wrong Turn too. Far from perfect but very decent flick.

I'm not usually a big slasher fan, as I tend to prefer supernatural horror. However, I think I'd watch anything with Eliza Dushku running around in a tanktop.

Definately one of the good points of an enjoyable but unoriginal film.

AmericanManiac 10-27-2006 11:08 AM

I really enjoyed it and also it is only about 3 hours from me where it was filmed I love my location. We have had many films around my area and they are HORROR ! :D

makemebad 10-27-2006 11:24 AM

Anybody know if the DVD is worthwhile in terms of extras, etc.?

My rental featured the trailer -- and the making of it. That was it.

AmericanManiac 10-27-2006 12:42 PM

My edition has Commentary, deleted scenes, The making of, Eliza Dushku:Babe in the woods,Fresh Meat:The wounds of Wrong Turn, and Poster Concept gallery.. and more !

The Flayed One 10-27-2006 01:32 PM

Wrong Turn is servicable for me. I'll buy it eventually, and I wouldn't be pissed if I bought it on a blind buy. It's pretty one notch above cut & paste slasher, but I'll take that any day as a fun watch.

As far as being a horselength better than Ginger Snaps...well, you'll never get in my pants with an attitude like that;)

it was way better than I thought it was going to be, reeeal gooood.
there isn't any good horror movies on though, poltergeist, freddy keruger,
aren't they supposed to do a friday the 13 beginning also just like
texas chainsaw massacre to show how jason came to be like he was.
and I/m thinking that freddy drowned jason as a child not the counselors
nat watching out for him, because when they made the freddy vs. jason
movie freddy was able to get into jason's head as a child and he drowned
him so is this right.

Sounds like this would be the one to get then. I'll have to pick it up the next time I see it.
