The Heartbreak Kid

Not bad, I didn't expect it to be as funny as it was and while it tended to be a bit predictable I was ok with that.

Posher778 04-02-2008 07:57 PM

The Mist- 9/10

There are no words... I'm literally still shaking. I've never seen anything like that in my entire life. I'll never forget that movie. That was, the most terrifying movie I have ever seen, will ever see.... ever. Wow...

the aurora encounter.

atrocious ultra-low budget western sci-fi with one funny moment that almost saved it.

No Country For Old Men.... probably the last person on the board to see this :)

Dug it a lot, been awhile since I've sat down to watch something that wasn't exploitation or splatter so it was a nice change. Kinda burnt myself out on flicks like this in their heyday in the late 90s but this was fresh n cool.

Oh yeh and speaking of splatter finally got to see the uncut version of The Mutilator! Loved it... fantastic piece of 80s slashertrash.

the_real_linda 04-03-2008 07:54 AM

No, no you aren't.....:o It should be arriving here today, I think, along with The Mist. BOTH I wanted to see in the theater, but alas it was not meant to be....the guy that runs the place never seems to get in what I want to see, and when he does its only there a few days.

Taste the Blood of Dracula

crabapple 04-04-2008 06:07 AM

H. G. Lewis' A Taste of Blood from 1967...

A slow, ultra-cheap vampire movie. It's kinda fun! Almost two hours long, very talky, and not as gory as Lewis's big gore films like Blood Feast or 2000 Maniacs, but it has some interesting stuff going on.

Phalanx 04-04-2008 06:43 AM

AVP: REQUIEM.
Well, the first 20-25 minutes of it before I turned it off.
What a BORING, NOTmosphere of a film...didn't even watch long enough to figure out if it was better'n the first one or not, don't really care to either.

Yeah, I would suggest continuing it. The first half hour is really boring, but it does get good!

Dante'sInferno 04-04-2008 08:33 AM

Just rented No Country For Old Men,Alvin and the Chipmunks and WWE:The Ladder Match

newb 04-04-2008 09:19 AM

last couple of nights

Fright Night [still holds up pretty well...once you get past the 80s music and fashion]

Catacombs [potential to be good but failed]

Blood for Dracula [ dismemberment, naked woman, and wergins, whats not to love]

i think the problem was the cast.

the story and effects were ok ... i wasnt expecting much in the first place ... but i found the cast - every on of them - to be impossibly unengaging - i couldnt care less if any of them lived or died.

i did like the approach the film took this time where no one was buddies with anyone else this time. a far more brutal film than the 1st.

My feelings exactly.

The characterisation in the scripts was the biggest drawback of the movie...otherwise it was really engaging from after the first 25-30 mins till the end.

It was a notch above AvP thats for sure. They need a good script writer for the third one, if they ever make it.

I wonder if Sean is available...

Posher778 04-04-2008 10:43 AM

Just rented: (And looking forward to most... in order:)

La Haine (1995)

Avi, Fortunato, Rod...hell, anyone who hasn't seen this movie needs to do so immediately. Powerful, gritty, stylish stuff.
