Going to watch Before the Devil Knows You're Dead tonight.

AUSTIN316426808 04-26-2008 04:50 PM

Aliens vs Predator - Requiem

Dear lord did that suck on all levels.

Phalanx 04-26-2008 04:56 PM

Turned it off somewhere between 20 minutes and a half hour myself.
No atmosphere, characters that were just there to be there.
Don't think I'll ever bother sitting through it in all honesty.

urgeok2 04-26-2008 05:00 PM

the gunman

suckered in by the cast, plot summary, and 3$ price tag ..i got taken.
dumb predictable movie with the most hamfisted use of music i've ever seen.

re-edit the film, use a decent score and change the ending an there might have been something there.

You wont be missing a thing. Not that I was expecting anything great, but there wasn't even any decent action. Totally pointless.

Works out well - I dont have any school on Thursday, so I'll actually be able to stay up late enough to call in:)

Was that one hell of a good time or what? I want to try to do it again, but I had to drive damn near an hour to see it the first time.

Aliens vs Predator - Requiem

Started watching it twice since I picked it up but haven't got thru it.

Been watching a bunch of Beavis & Butthead too.

The_Return 04-26-2008 08:59 PM

I've been putting it off, but I think I'm finally going to go finish The Holy Mountain.

Awesome can't wait to hear from ya and hear your views on it.

Apocalypto (2006)

Really impressed with this one. Completely enthralling from start to finish. I had been wanting to see this for awhile, so I was worried it wouldn't live up to the hype I had created, but it actually exceeded the hopes I had for it. Recommended.

Yeah, it was pretty awesome. I would'nt mind going again either.

Return of Swamp Thing.

Taken from the other thread...Diary of the dead...

from most of what I hear, it's a lot better/preferred than LOTD was.
I don't know about a LOT better, but I found the atmosphere much more the style I prefer...the camera viewpoints didn't bother me at all, and I actually thought how the footage was put together was pretty cool.
Gory, suspenseful, and yeah, overall a bit more enjoyable than Land, IMO.
Very different type of film.

I'll say, it's almost up there with 28DL/Shaun right now for "modern" z-films.

I think that this was the film/quality that Romero fans would've ideally wanted for "Land", definately had more of Romeros trademark eerie.

**Slight spoiler below***

I liked that not too much of that "zombie memory" stuff comes up, just a couple of throw-ins there, which was good - I don't feel as though an established continuity should be ditched because of fan dissaproval (not that I did personally), I'm glad he stuck to his guns there.

jenna26 04-27-2008 08:55 AM

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer ~ damn did this movie disturb me. Glad I finally watched it, but doubt I will be watching it again. Did I mention that this movie really disturbed me? :o

Blood and Chocolate ~ forgettable.

At Midnight I'll Take You Soul ~ liked it a lot, now I need to get around to seeing the other Coffin Joe movies.

SamCostello 04-27-2008 08:59 AM

The Beguiled, a weird 1971 movie with Clint Eastwood as a Union soldier during the Civil War being holed up in a Southern girl’s school. Sex and tension follow. Almost really good, but not quite.

The_Return 04-27-2008 09:42 AM

Watched more of Holy Mountain last night...you know, I'm really not digging this movie at all. I'm all for surrealism and shit, but this is almost too much, even for me.

I'll probably sit through the rest of it at some point though, just because I did pay for it...

_____V_____ 04-27-2008 01:53 PM

Cloverfield.

Tell you what, the more I see this...the more I am impressed as shit. If it wasn't for the bad characterisation (and a gawky second half script), this would get a higher rating.

Doesn't beat watching it in the theater. They have done quite an amazing job with the camera though.

Still, for the experience and what it's worth...

Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Absolutely loved it.

Wind Chill

Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man

Disease 04-28-2008 02:37 AM

Trailer Park Boys, The Big Dirty..

I was rather dissapointed in this, it just wasn't that funny, they made a movie instead of a longer episode which was a mistake.

6/10

The Tripper

I don't think it was ment to make sense.

Fulci's Conquest.

Plenty of gore in this fantasy tale, but the script and direction is a big disappointment. So is some of the FX of the day, (it looks cheesily and ridiculously cheap) but still...Fulci does a decent job keeping it all together. The characterisation is not much to write home about, and there's not much going in the action either. Not to mention the horrid music which makes things only worse.

Overall, a disappointment from the Fulci home of movie-making.

Gladiator

(well - most of it .. we had to bail in the last half hour because it was getting late for my kid - we'll finish it tonight)

Cloverfield (2008)

Good. Fun. I probably won't need to ever see it again- nor would it be as good a second time around.

I prefer The Blair Witch Project.

hammerfan 04-28-2008 10:19 AM

Just finished watching "The Orphanage" online at Netflix. Very very good movie. Once again Guillermo del Toro does NOT disappoint!

Caught most of Ferris Bueller's Day Off on AMC - would you believe that I've never seen this?

I'm going to buy it ASAP - what I saw was awesome. Ferris is my hero!

The Iron Rose

A French "horror" film that really puts style over substance. Beautiful film but I wouldn't be able to defend it if somebody were to say it was "boring". It did have some wonderfully constructed suspense though, and that was effective enough to keep me watching all the way through.

The Mothman 04-28-2008 03:57 PM

An Inconvienent Truth.

had to watch it for class. watched only half, the other half i spent with my hat over my eyes and fingers in my ears, because i know deep down inside, nothing is going to change. nobody's going to fix this, however from now on i commit my self to never owning a car, and only using public transportation. might as well try and make a difference while i can.
this is the scariest movie out there.

I couldn't survive without a car... even with gas being $4.00 a gallon. It was a decent film but as with anything made by a human being some of the facts are skewed because of the bias of the creator. Also, (and PLEASE don't get in a political debate here, I could care less about politics right now), I was shocked to see how environmentally friendly Bush's ranch was. VERY surprising, wish we all had the money to do that.

hellfire1 04-28-2008 05:18 PM

Harry, un ami qui vous veut du bien (With a Friend like Harry)

Still a great movie that mixes black comedy and thriller so well, with Sergi Lopez (before Pan's Labyrinth) at the creepy center.

The Lives of Others (2007)
