But let me start by saying, that with the Director and the huge amount of great actors, i coulndīt help but having pretty big expectations to Sin City.

First of all, i thought the lead characters was very much alike except for their physics. All cool without many feelings. It got tiresome to listen to their monotonous, numb thoughts throughout the entire movie.

Second. The storyline reminded me alot of "Pulp fiction", very smart ass, just without any good dialogue. The story wasnīt that good and i didnīt get the intro and the last seconds of the movie. With other words, i didnīt get Josh Hartnettīs part in it? When the credits finaly came rolling i sat with an empty feeling inside. Like the credits came before the movie was entirely over.

Third. I liked the cartoon universe wich reminded me of a dark version of "Dick Tracy". I liked Elija Wood and Nick Stahlīs characters wich were wonderfully weird and colorful. Sadly there wasnīt more characters like them. But explain to me why ALL women in Sin City had to look like porno supermodels and had to be half/fully naked. It was degrading to look at and really irritated me. (Iīm not a "Charlies angels" fan)
;)

The possitive things about Sin City was the originality, the effects, the enviroment, the entertainment, and Elija Wood.

All in all a 8/10

That's funny everything you liked I didn't(with the exception of the enviroment) and everything you didn't like I did(with the exception of Elijah Wood).

I liked Rourke and Owens'(<my personal favorite) characters and Bruce Willis was a lead and his character was nothing like their's.

AUSTIN316426808 04-21-2005 04:44 AM

Event Horizon- 5/10, only half of the movie was good hence the rating. The climax was great, Sam Neil's character was great after he went off the deep end and fucked his face up.

Sin City- 10/10, I went to see it again Tues. at 12 in the morning to make sure the theatre wouldn't be filled with 100 people with..

25 whispering
25 just flat out talking
and the other half assorted with whining babies, cellphones ect. and all of them going oooooooooooo evertime something happens and then talking about it over the rest of the dialouge in the scene.

anyway the first time I saw it I gave it a 8 because there were a few things I didn't like for example the weak set up given for Rourke to go on a torcher/killing spree but this time I was uninterrupted by the things mentioned above, caught a few things I missed and took a close look at the things I didn't like the first time and all in all it was better than I originally thought.
(p.s.-I still hate Elijah Wood)

Rosemary's Baby- 9/10, Would've been a 10 but imo everybody but Mia Farrow and Charles Grodin completely over acted.

Cursed

Cursed (2005)

Craven's tale started off so nicely...and tapered towards a real paler to the end...disappointment from the team that brought "Scream"...

wonder if anyone else has seen it...

go watch American Werewolf in London instead...

Vodstok 04-21-2005 05:24 AM

If i want CGI were wolfs, i'll get American Werewolf in PAris.

Then throw rocks at it.

I liked it too...

I saw the woodsman. It was long draining and boring, but I don't do well with dramas most of the time.

Aside from the effects, which Ill admit were amazing, what did you like about this? I thought it was pretty bad....the acting wasnt very good, the plot was pretty dry until the ending, IMO.

I give it this: Damn good scenery/special effects, and a certain even near the end which would ruin the movie for those who havnt seen it....[So those who've seen it know what I mean....Totenkoff at the end...wow] Aside from that, I didnt see much to like. What are your thoughts?

feral cat 04-21-2005 07:19 PM

Avalon ... Japanese movie shot in Poland (really cool)

The Land that time forgot ... The greatest sunday afternoon fantasy adventure

Down by law ... Jim Jarmusch classic

The Arena ... Female gladiators

Big Trouble in little China ... YAY 80's cheese from Kurt and John

Salaryman Kintaro (Eps 1-4 Anmie) ... not bad for a cartoon about an ex biker that becomes and office worker, just waiting for PT2 before I review it

Got over 700 horror movies...Lost count...heh

We also watched Return Of The Living Dead 3 last night...But, we had both seen that one before.....

And, The Dark Half (I have ALL of Stepehen King's movies AND books...I've tried to convince him to read the books because they are SOOO much better than the movies...But, he has only read The Stand, The Dark Tower Series, and It...*sigh*)...He hadn't seen The Dark Half...But, he HAS seen almost all of the other Stephen King movies

Demon Seed is watching Wayne's World right now:rolleyes: ...The kids have a pretty large comedy collection, as well as their own Horror collections...

the acting was excellent ...

do you have any frame of reference - the old serials that this was an homage to ?
the acting was dead on ... so was the plot ..

i cant think of one single thing that was wrong with it .. i loved every second .. despite the fact that i dislike angelina jolie

Angra 04-22-2005 12:29 AM

"Star runner"

Yaaaaaawn!!

bwind22 04-22-2005 12:33 AM

Taking Lives.

Meh... At least it had Angelina Jolie's tits, so that was a plus. Other than that, fairly predictable and not very suspenseful.

bloodrayne 04-22-2005 12:46 AM

Just watched Pirates Of The Caribbean...Wicked Lady's suggestion...

crazy raplh 04-22-2005 04:43 AM

I guess Ill have to track down some old serials....but until then, Ill have to quote Austin...."To each his own":p

Anyway, last night I watched a movie that I throughly enjoyed....and despite it's awful plot, wasnt really that bad. "Attack of the Giant Leeches", damn thats a great name. Exactly what you'd expect from a late 50's B movie with a name like Attack of the Giant Leeches, but it was still enjoyable:)

They talked me into Dickie Roberts...It seemed VERY 'Joe Dirt' to me...

And Dustin got me to watch Airheads...AGAIN...He loves that movie...

Now...They're trying to get me to watch Lord Of The Rings...I just can't seem to make myself do it....

Where are the good NEW HORROR movies?....I'm dying here...

_____V_____ 04-23-2005 02:42 AM

New horror movies...hmm since the age-old scares of the vampires, zombies and werewolves have died out, the producers are busy pittin them against each other...

We had Underworld...we had Freddy vs Jason...we had Alien vs Predator...all sorts of rumors for sequels to these "versus" series...rehash the old wines, mix em, and package em attractively...

new original horror movies eh...do I need a vote on that? well maybe I do...maybe we all do...

The_Return 04-23-2005 05:19 AM

Watched the 2002 version of The Time Machine last night. I love that movie, cant see why everyone I talk to hates it so much...
