dvds:
*Superman Special Edition...got it because apparently the new one takes place after this, so I thought I'd rewatch it, it's been years.
*Superman 2 - 'cos I'm probably gonna get 'em all now, I have this weird continuity thing and unless a sequel is like mega-bad, I'll usually buy it.
*The breakfast club - ALWAYS wanted it on dvd, got it for $15AUD brand new, which is pretty cheap.
*LOGANS RUN!!! I LOVE this film...CLASSIC action/sci-fi. Brand new for $7AUD, which is really fuck-all.

Also...went to an antique shop in my local area, which sells antiques, old stuff, books, junk, gadgets...I swear, every time I go here I realise it's one of my favourite places to be...the store owner isn't a prick like some either, he won't follow you around the joint (and it's two levels), and he'll encourage you to tinker with stuff...which is a far cry from SOME people that operate stores like this.
So, I found something I liked...a nice black glass bottle on top of which was a battery operated dispenser that looks like a statue, when the liquid is dispensed via a button press, the guy pisses it out...who WOULDN'T this appeal to. The insides looked pretty old, but I bought it anyway as they looked simple to repair even if they werent working, and they took modern batteries too. So I bought it, the guy wrapped it in newspaper and sent me on my way. Unfortunately, spal dropped the thing, and smashed the bottle, which is unfortunate because it was a really nice bottle... The mechanism and "statue" werent damaged at all though, so now it's a matter of finding a bottle (or having glass blown) at the right size for the thing to sit upon. No big deal...just funny how bad luck happens...thought I'd share.

Bummer dude. You should take a pic of it.

Despare 06-15-2006 10:02 PM

i was ....

Bram Stokers Dracula ... another Hannibal Lecter performance by wild tony hopkins and 2 of the worst performances by winona ryder and keanu reeves. (and i never understood the euro-gutter appeal of oldman in this film... he just looks goofy to me)

Interview With a Vampire ... 'Brokeback Nosferatu'

i found myself growing weary of the closeups of Brad Pitts pouting face or Tom Cruises inability to speak with fake fangs in his mouth.
I guess if you like the homo-erotic fiction of Anne Rice you'll like the movie.

sorry - you asked !

i'd stick with the dawn of the dead... then save your money for Cemetary Man coming out soon..

I have Perfect Blue and the Ninja Scroll Anniversary edition...I thought those were both great movies...Ninja Scroll is one of the best anime films in my humble opinion....
I just ordered The Gate, The Dungeonmaster, and The Class of Nuke Em High on DVD...I borrowed that one from a friend and had to get my own.....later today I'm getting The Toxic Avenger DVD since my VHS broke:(
God bless the internet:D

Amalthea 06-16-2006 01:34 PM

Brother Bear
House of Flying Daggers

Miss Olivia 06-16-2006 09:47 PM

I just ordered Day of the Triffids and Saturday the 14th on Amazon....DOTT was extremely cheap, but I had to pay twenty bucks for a used VHS copy of ST14....I was really suprised it was so expensive, but a lot of the movies I grew up loving are really hard to get for some reason....I was going to buy The Monster Squad the other day and it STARTED at 25 bucks for a used tape...I didn't buy it. Howard the Duck is really scarce too, I don't really understand why....

The Flayed One 06-17-2006 04:25 AM

Lucky

Movie I've been wondering about for a long time. It was a shot in the dark to round out my DDDvd order. Sounds like fun.

The Wal-Mart nearby just loaded up the "we can't give 'em away, but we can sell 'em cheap" bin, so I took a few off their hands.

Copycat -- I love Holly Hunter and Sigourney Weaver in this, and Harry Connick, Jr. makes me laugh.

Cabin Fever -- I don't know why, but I like this movie.

Stir of Echoes -- I remember liking this but haven't watched it in a while.

Pretty in Pink -- Ah, this one takes me back to my youth.

Eye for an Eye -- I like vigilante justice movies, especially when the bad guy has no redeemable qualities.

The Mothman Prophecies -- It's not a great movie, but it creeps me out for some reason.

joshaube 06-18-2006 05:01 PM

Mothman Prophecies, how cheap was this one? Might pick it up. Didn't see it in the discount bin last time I was there.

Been looking for that myself. I'm gonna inject some more life into my music collection first before I do some overseas ordering. I've been neglecting it.

Shit... a young man would have aches aswell after doing all that!
But I guess we bounce back a bit quicker :)

- God of War for PS2

While I was at Zellers, I saw something that caught my eye: Season 1 boxset of "Are You Afriad of the Dark?", for $30. I absolutly LOVED the show when I wass younger, but Im kinda nervous about buying it now, incase it's too childish....I think I might grab it tomorrow, not sure yet. Any thoughts? Opinions?
