Airlift (2016)
http://i68.tinypic.com/28m1kqf.jpg This is a magnificent effort by Indian cinema for finding & telling their own "Schindler's List" story. But other than a common businessman turning into an unlikely hero by saving thousands of innocent lives in a horrifying war setting, both Steven Spielberg's Oscar winning SCHINDLER'S LIST and Raja Menon's AIRLIFT basically have only one thing in common...the triumph of human spirit; a selfless individual's exemplary initiatives to come forward & rise to the occasion for the greatest cause of all during a very difficult time of war. Ironically both the films inspired by two separate true events and this tells us again that history not only repeat itself through bloody wars & countless human sufferings but also it recalls the very basic core of humanity as long as there are saviors like Oskar Schindler or Mathews & Vedi (inspired the character of Ranjit Katiyal in Airlift). >>: A- |

(1999) Ring 2 6,5/10
The two creepiest scenes were the "video erasing" and "mirror" ones. |
THE COMPLEX 2013
A young woman and her family move to an apartment complex. Her personal life as well as her family starts to unravel before her eyes after she discovers the body of elderly neighbor. And there's also a strange little boy she befriends... A little dull and really nothing too terrifying. |
(2013) Sadako 3D 2 8.5/10
I like this one more than the original Ring trilogy. I do understand the revolutionary impact the original Ring had, and the fact that Ring 2 had two creepy scenes, it still is no match to Sadako 3D 2. The cinematography is really nice, the acting is good and the story was neatly written. |
KANSEN 2004
A hospital/clinic is shown to be experiencing financial difficulties and is fairly understaffed. When a patient is left in the ambulance bay..literally abandoned...it appears he has some horrific contagion. The staff..already overworked and stressed by an "incident ", try to cope as the night unfolds. Beautifully shot. |
The Carnivores
A corrupt journalist uncovers a village's awful secret when he goes to confront his lover's husband. Will he leave behind the sinister town, or risk his life to save her? 7/10 I have a DVD of Kansen around here somewhere. Good movie, I should find it and watch it again. |

THE BOOTH 2005 In the middle of relocation, a dj is forced to temporarily use an antiquated sound booth in the basement of the building where a former dj had committed suicide years previously. I haven't enjoyed a movie like I enjoyed this one for awhile. |
The Haunted Cop Shop - 8/10
Doctor Vampire - 8/10 Amazon has a ton of these, they are a lot like the British "Carry On" series. More silly than scary. |
Gangs of Wasseypur (2012)
https://s32.postimg.org/4lrzetdl1/Ga...pur_poster.jpg This 2-part Indian epic is not only a remarkably made gritty gangster flick set in rural India but I'd say this is one of the greatest films made in last 10 to 20 years, considering the world cinema. A modern masterpiece, highly recommended. >>: A |

Wicked Ghost 3: The Possession - I don't know if this was serious, and just bad, or a parody and I didn't get it. More silly than scary, no real gore. Maybe this is a Chinese Made-For-TV movie.
|
Wicked Ghost - yeah, I'm watching them out of order. The Amazon streaming version of this is in Chinese with no subbing or dubbing, and I don't speak Chinese, so I probably missed the finer points of the plot. Basically a Chinese version of "The Ring". It's not that bad. I'll keep an eye out for the subtitled version.

Raman Raghav 2.0 (2016)
https://s10.postimg.org/qtirsif4p/Raman_Raghav.jpg Quite dark & interesting psychological thriller from India about this serial killer, Ramanna, inspired by the works of a real-life serial killer named Raman Raghav who left a trail of ghastly murders in mid 60s in Mumbai. Ramanna's story is set in present time and gradually explores his discovery of an unlikely partner in crime from an opposite end! India's one of the most popular & best contemporary character actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui nailed the title role brilliantly and the young actor who portrayed the role of an addict cop also shines in his part. Recommended. >>: A |

Saw it years ago but I recently rewatched The Good, The Bad, The Weird.
Great Asian western with really fun action scenes. Not the directors best work but still really great. 4/5 |
