That's class! Great Purchase there my friend! Think I may have to check that out. I was reading the directors notes on the film on my way in to work this morning. Not sure if they (Momentum) released it in The US but the UK version was released with a book (I think they are called The Directors Chair Editions) - Manhunter has been released also in this fashion - the book is proving to be a compelling and somewhat revealing read - I will post more when I have read it all. Thought it was quite cool cos Alan Parker apparently writes an essay after every film so the notes are from the time of the movie rather than the director having to look back over 19 years of memories to remember those important details.

Sin City. Not quite as cool the second time or on the small screen. But the Mickey Rourke segment still kicks my ass!

I think I could watch the Mickey Rouke segment several thousand times haaha. The rest of the film was a little bit to hollywood for my tastes (found myself a bit more lost in the story at the cinema but on DVD I didn't feel the same) but that segment is pure gold. Down, dirty and nasty. Cool to see Rutger Hauer aswell he doesn't get utilised enough.

rourke and hauer are in my top 4 or 5 favorite actors (i was impressed by Clive Owen as well though)

i think the movie is gold .. but i think i like the sister film Kill Bill a little more .. the characters are richer and more varried.

i will totally concur though - the Mickey Rourke segment is the best thing to happen to the movies since the camera.

Definatley. He's one of the few actors I can stomach these days. I dig Sean Penn to. Their preformances eat the majority of "actors" for breakfast. Hopefully Rourke will get some decent roles thrown his way.... shit its almost like he was blacklisted for years for being a hellraiser.

he made a lot of horrible decisions ...

9 1/2 weeks being one of them .. what a waste ...the sad success of that film (north americans are so sexually repressed that they thought that film was racey) that led to the other 'erotic thrillers' the got progressivly worse.

A Prayer For the Dying was a really bad move as well .. he might be of irish ancestry but he couldnt do the accent. that movie put him in therapy.

then he got into the boxing and that pretty much ended his 'handsome leading man' rolls.

most good directors that have been around know him for what he is .. a major talent.
They started to use him in bit rolls where he outshone the rest of the cast ...

i think he'll get used again regularily (rodriguez certainly seems to like him) but he wont be the pretty boy anymore .. so it'll be weird character rolls ...

but thats ok, a little mickey is far better than a lot of Cruise.
