As for profanity...I personally don't think "cunt" "cocksucker", and any or all insults/words of a derogatory nature in regard to sexual preferance, or race should be ablt to enter into the forum.

Shit, bullshit, fuck...whatever, those are pretty commonplace and as long as theyre used within moderation, that's ok

Everyone...PLEASE make a note of the above statement If you attack Cheeba, in ANY way, he WILL go off...It's that simple...Just DON'T do it...Would it really be that difficult just to ignore him if you don't like him?...Thank you in advance for compliance

Honestly...Zwoti does a lot more here than I do...especially since I have my hands full with the baby...He's just not as 'visible' as I am....He's the 'Ninja Mod' ;)

Baby doll, That's the usual reaction of every 'normal' person that comes to this forum...This place is NOT for everyone...We are a bit of a different 'breed' here...Those who choose to stick around, eventually begin to understand 'how we are' here...It's much more 'laid-back' than most other places...It can be an affront to the senses and sensibilities of a new person who isn't used to it

It's kinda like when a person watches a horror movie for the very first time, if they have only previously watched chick flicks, dramas, and politically correct crap...It would be shocking, intense and offensive...Know what I'm saying?

If you DO choose to leave...We will all understand why you felt you had to...

Like I said, it isn't for everyone...And not everyone can handle it, or cares enough to try to...It's actually JUST like watching horror movies :)

Oh...We will ALWAYS have 'these types of discussions', as well as many others of this nature...As we always have, long before you even heard of Horror.com....

As for 'being nice to each other'...We CANNOT be expected to do that all of the time...Not at this forum, and not in the real world...Life just doesn't work that way...We would all be completely FAKE...

But...We LOVE opinions here...This entire forum is based on sharing opinions...I feel that if someone doesn't like someone, they should be able to say, "Damn...I REALLY don't like you"...I don't see anything wrong with that...It's HONEST...It's REAL....But, the childish, constant, personal insulting, and shit slinging is uncalled for...I can actually FEEL my IQ dropping when I'm subjected to that bullshit

Cheeba...Please read this...I want you to consider this for a second....It is your position that you were unfairly attacked, with NO PROVOCATION....I honestly believe that it's this type of action (not this SINGLE act, but this TYPE of action in general...You have been known to 'go off' a time or 2) that might give some members the 'provocation' to attack you...I'm not saying that it's right to attack you ( no one should be attacking anyone here), I'm just offering up a little 'probable cause'

You know what?...I could TOTALLY adopt that kind of attitude...I really could...I could be the biggest bitch this place has ever come in contact with...But, I don't think it's fair...And I wouldn't want someone to do it to ME

This forum would be a completely different kind of place with that type of constriction

I completely get your point, though...And I SERIOUSLY hope that everyone else here considers that, too

If we ban someone for this, the line will be drawn and it will just keep getting drawn further back until we have nothing interesting left to talk about because we can't voice our opinions without getting banned.
I am hoping this thread will help us find the 'happy medium' for this exact situation

We are setting a precedent here...We have to be very careful

EXACTLY

I think that Vod's original point holds the key to this entire thing...We KNOW that thomasgeorge is okay with the prodding...Just as we also know that Cheeba is NOT

I don´t like to make excuses everytime i pull someones leg. Then the fun stops emidiately.

This is why 'the line' needs to be more clearly defined...We don't want EVERYONE here to end up feeling this way...Afraid to post...Afraid to speak our minds...That would suck SO bad

There's not really a good clear-cut definition, but you know it when you see it. You can't say "Oh, if you do this, this, this or this then you'll get banned" because one could find exceptions or loopholes to any of the rules if they tried, and the only thing you can do to prevent exceptions or loopholes is by making some concrete, air-tight, blanket rule like "If it offends someone you're banned" in which case you may as well ban everybody because what's offensive or not is subjective and anybody can say they were offended without any proof. So basically you can't really have a clear set of rules for it, it kindof has to be incident-by-incident.

And therein lies the ENTIRE dilemma...It's all subjective...One man's insult, is another man's joke

How can you etch a rule in stone, when it's based on human emotion...and matters of individual interpretation and perception?

There has to be some leeway because everybody can’t just “all get along”, that simply isn’t human nature, but we can control ourselves and not make constant verbal assaults.

Agreed...Everyone, PLEASE read this one...If there is ANYTHING in this statement that someone disagrees with, or doesn't understand, please make it known so that it can be discussed and clarified

That being said, dulling this place down would be like putting a gun to our heads... suiciiiiiide. We need the loose lingo, the slingin' slander. It's what makes (or made, in the eyes of some) this forum interesting and unique.

if you hate somebody and want to give em' the old verbal haymaker, do it in a PM or through some other form of communication. We all know there's rivalries here, we all know there's tension between members and groups. But banning won't do much of anything; we need to grow up and keep the trouble out of the spotlight.

Applauds...Excellent...Thank you

Seems to me people just need to lighten the fuck up and not take things so seriously, but then again I've always been a hard person to offend, I know how some people can be easily offended by something that another person may only mean as a lighthearted remark.

Reading through this thread, I don't think this guy should be banned just judging on what he's said. But hey, I only joined this morning and I don't know any past history of anyone.

All i mean is that if someone is purposefully going after someone repeatedly making hateful comments towards someone without merit, and it's obviously that's he's just doing it to be rude and will continue to do it, then sure, ban him.

But really, if you are going to ban someone who just offhandedly says, "you're a loser" or slips up and tells someone THEY suck instead of their opinion, then I think thats going way too far.

I agree with this...And, I am this type of person, too...Especially this part "I've always been a hard person to offend"....BUT...Not everyone is the same...And we have to find a way to take that into consideration, to try to achieve some peace for the entire forum

Thanks for your input

Okay...After all of this...Here are my overall suggestions (Thanks Vod and Hammerfan)

PLEASE consider WHO you are speaking to when you make a statement, and whether or not they may respond negatively to it.....If you KNOW that the comment you intend to make WILL create a war with someone, do NOT make that comment to (or about) that person....

Some people can handle it...Some people will play along with you...Some people will hit you right back in a funny, or intelligent way...And some may hit back with the same force you give them, and THEN...let...it...go

But...Some people just have to be left alone

So, pretty much, if you know you are going to cause a shitstorm...You are fucking up...Just stop

If you throw a rock at a Poodle, it will most likely yap and whimper...But, if you throw a rock at a Rottweiler, chances are you may be eaten....So, we choose not to throw the rock...We should be intelliigent enough to figure this out...

Thank you everyone for helping out here...I seriously hope that we have accomplished SOMETHING

Thank you Cheeba for keeping it rational

So then...With that...What do we do about Murderdoll (if she shows up?)

Vodstok 08-09-2006 11:19 AM

Thats it. Prozium for everyone. Emotions are getting out of hand, so the Grammaton Clerics are putting an end to your sense offences.

That's a tough one. It is asking for special treatment to tread carefully around one member just because they say now they have special needs.

While it is perfectly reasonable to ask that the forum does not behave in an inflammitory fashion just for the sake of it, or deliver direct profane insults (despite the dubious track record of the member in question), is it reasonable to instruct that an 'attack' on this person must not happen?

This is far too open to abuse - many debates and arguments are won through attack. I think it is essential to clarify the difference between forceful opinion and personal, derogatory insults or defamation.

Vodstok 08-09-2006 11:34 AM

Maybe we should color code our comments:

Inflamitory
Kidding
Sorta Serious
You Suck
Lipstick

I was afraid that it would appear to come off that way..BUT..This is what I meant.....While we shouldn't be ripping on ANYONE, most of us take it in stride or in jest...People react differently to different situations....Cheeba has shown us and TOLD us, that he WILL go off if attacked...Therefore, the obvious solution is just to avoid that altogether...the concept isn't really that difficult to grasp...

And just as you are so lightly, yet deliberately testing what we are trying to define as 'the line'...Others are aware of THEIR intentions also.....So, have a little giggle at your cleverness, and then drop it

Unfortunately, as this thread has demonstrated...It is extremely difficult for many people to make that distinction...Because, it is based on a matter of personal feeling and tolerance levels...That is why we can only rely on personal discretion and consideration

I think we covered that already...
