I think you might have hit the nail on the head in that it is extremely difficult for many people in the forum to make such a simple distinction, indeed make distinctions between many things when it comes to discussion, argument and amusement. Surely most people know the difference between a strong opinion and a personal derogatory remark?

Because of the common inabilitity to speak rationally and considerately about a subject, many members will fall back on insults instead. When we say: "...but what about this?", they hear: "Your momma is a terrorist whore," and respond accordingly.

The lunatics should not be allowed to take over the asylum, and most sensible forum members would fight to keep this site adult with consideration for kids but disdain for idiots and degenerates using the place as an excuse to blow off steam.

I think there are a few things that, in all fairness, must be said:

Eh, ok, here's how I look at it. Calling someone a loser or something of the sort isn't really an attack. I call my friends on instant messenger that all the time, and neither one of us take it personally because we both know it's a joke.

If you were to say "You are the stupidist piece of sh*t to ever walk the face of the f*cking earth, and should die!", not that would be an attack.

Even simply expressing your thoughts of someone isn't really an attack either. If I said, "Hey, you are starting to become annoying", that isn't really a bad thing, it's just saying. But if someone uses that sentence like "Hey you sh*tbag! You are a f*cking annoyance!", that is bannable material.

But this is just my outlook on things, and you are also incharge of this. If I went to another forum and did something that they thought was something to ban me over, I may be confused, but I respect their descision. I'll also leave if what I think someone said towards me is wrong and they should be banned. Let them have their fun, but I will no longer be a part of it.
