Morning, take it from someone a little older...love is highly over rated. Just my opinion. Post so we know you're ok.

*Hugs* to Morning.

Also, has anyone here watched the epicness that is The Dark Crystal-1982??? If so, what did you think of it?

It's been a very long time since I saw it. I remember that I really liked it.

Roiffalo 11-17-2015 07:06 PM

If you want to rewatch it, Hammer, I recently rewatched it on Netflix. And I think I also saw it on YouTube.

That's a childhood favorite ^^

I was over the moon to meet one of the films puppeteers at Monster Bash last October. He also had one of the swords used for the emperor fight on display behind him. It was just as fugging big as it looked in the movie!

Angra 11-17-2015 07:28 PM

The Dark Crystal was good, but Labyrinth was a lot better.

Hey, Roshiq set up a great contest, rating the best modern directors. Go vote!! It's only going to be as good as we all make it.

I have seen it. I think it is a great film.

I thought The Dark Crystal was cool, feast for the eyes, some winks at real world references, and mildly entertaining. I was hoping for a little more meaning in the film. Been years since I saw it, and it would likely be debatable, but I thought it was basically a pseudo-duality belief system, where only an outside belief system would want anything to change (that is, only a different belief system would 'want the situation at the beginning of the film' to change)... which actually is a rejection of the belief system the film portrays. If that makes any sense... ::wink::

I have always felt alone and I hate it! I have had no one. I am 34 and only been in love once and only ever had 1 sexual partner and she and I have had such a long history but she doesn't appreciate me, only what I can do for her. I stay with her because I have nowhere else to go. All my family who cared about me is dead and she always reminds me of how no one wants me. I feel so useless and just want to feel needed and wanted.

hammerfan 11-18-2015 06:13 PM

I'm sorry you're going through such a hard time, Morning. I wish I had some magic words of wisdom. Considering the fact that I've been alone since 2001, I don't.

newb 11-18-2015 06:48 PM

Back in my day when you were alone...you were alone. With the internet it's pretty easy to find like-minded people. I had pretty much no one to share my love of horror movies. Even today my wife won't watch that genre with me. I had to trick her into watching The Guest..."Oh it's about a war vet who visit the family of his deceased comrade.....very touching story"....{She actually like it}. 34 is pretty young....you will find someone who appreciates you. Trust me.

Are you staying in her house or apt -- where you don't own the house or you're not on the lease?

If you've been with her a long time, and you don't feel she appreciates you, I'd recommend talking to her about how you feel in a constructive manner -- specifically letting her know you want to improve your relationship. She may help with how you feel, loneliness & other things.

Before you act, it's important to remember everyone likes what you do for them -- it doesn't mean they don't love or appreciate you. In a way we "use" the people we love. I'm not saying she does love you, I'm just saying to examine things fairly in a sober mind.

And people get into ruts... where they forget to express their appreciation of you, and even forget to give back to you. Sometimes we just need a reminder to "get back into relationship".

But after very careful consideration, if you two aren't compatible, you have to discuss moving on -- and begin "tilling the field" -- which can be a painful process, but the only way to a new relationship/life. You can't start dating a new woman while you're living with your girlfriend.

I know lots of things! But nothing about MovieLover12, except that he, among other things, apparently wanted to troll.

Hm... Odd.

If you go through his post history you'll see that he has actually been a normal contributing member for several years. Then he suddenly turns into an asshole. Quite possibly out of boredom.

I agree, Angra. I'd like to know why MovieLover12 was banned.

On a large Chicago sports forum site I frequent, they have a thread where mods post who & why members are suspended and banned -- they write what forum rule was violated -- very brief, just so we know what's up. I think we should have a Mod Thread here at HDC.

Bans (permanent) are sometimes needed, but suspensions (temp bans) are often more beneficial for a small group like ours. I'd be happy to write up a simple procedure.

You're surprised? I've been wondering what was taking him so long to get banned.

I was wondering that myself. But I'm kinda surprised, yes. Surprised because Movielover12's last posts were just him asking if it was ok to post links on the forum and Hammerfan responded that she didn't have a problem with it. So I assume he got banned for offensive private messages. I don't know. Like I said, I'm just curious.

Well I'm just doing fucking FANTASTIC. Jeep has had something wrong with it now for a while, and instead of a certain someone fixing it, it broke down only a few miles from home. What could have possibly made that worse? ...It broke down in an INTERSECTION. I'm already tired from work, but now I have to push this huge fucking dead weight to the nearby parking lot. And when I call people to get a ride home, no one answers! In today's world where people have their phones on then like a fucking tumor, no one wakes to their phone! Thank God for my sister, the only one who takes a situation like this into consideration and has hers nearby and on at all times. I'm hungry and tired, I just want to come home and get something to eat, a little horror time on my computer, and sleep. I'm so fucking done with everything I could scream. /rant

hammerfan 11-22-2015 01:53 AM
