THE DIRT-Motley Crue with Neil Straus
|
THE GODFATHER-Mario Puzo
|
LONG TIME COMING-David Crosby and Carl Gottalieb
|
KENNEDY BABYLON-Howie Carr. Extremely unflattering expose of the family with all the arrogance, promiscuity, substance abuse and sense of entitlement one associates with them.
|
SUMMER OF '42-Herman Raucher. Really liked this Coming of Age story back in my teen years, but find it hard going today as the three boys are so obnoxious-maybe I couldn't see it back then?
|
PET SEMETARY-Stephen King
|
FROM ABBA TO ZOOM-David Mansour. As it says on the jacket, this is a Pop Culture Encyclopedia of the late 20th Century, and all people born from the late 50's -late 80's should find a lot of reminiscing here. Some of the categories include (just what I see when turn to a Random page) "Fisher Price Pull Toys", "Mach V"(Speed Racer), "Quisp and Quake' (Cerals) "Bugs Bunny", "Slow Dancing Songs", "Fast Food Restaurants", "High School Types", "Bobby Sherman", "Slasher Films" etc etc

GOLD DUST WOMAN: A BIOGRAPHY OF STEVIE NICKS-Stephen Davis
|
Imajica by Clive Barker.
Before that three Stephen King books: The Long Walk, Cujo, The Stand (uncut edition) |
THE MONSTER SHOW-David Skal. Cultural history of horror through the 20th century. Good read and Skal also has some fine film commentaries out there.
|
FAT DRUNK AND STUPID-Matty Simmons. Entertaining recollections of the beginning, filming and aftermath of NATIONAL LAMPOON'S ANIMAL HOUSE.
|
HOW'S YOUR DAD?-Zoe Howe. Howe is the daughter in law of Yes gtr Steve Howe and the book consists of interviews with Rock Star progeny, relating the Pros and Cons of such upbringing.

I've been re-reading "The Manitou"series by Graham Masterton. The first is pretty good, Revenge is great and the others are, to be honest, pretty poor but they aren't long and following Harry Erskine's journey is fun.
One thing confusing though is that Harry very rarely talks about his past battles with Misquamacus. If that were me, every time anything strange happened I'd be thinking Here we go again. |
RAT SALAD:BLACK SABBATH-THE CLASSIC YEARS 1969-1975 by Paul Wilkinson.
Very good overview of Black Sabbath's first six albums (which are essential recordings) with extremely detailed musings of the individual songs. Also included are insights on what was happening in the lives of the author, band, popular culture and world events around the release dates. |
I've just finished Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer which is SF horror. Trailers of the film suggest that adaptation is perhaps better than the book.
|
KILLER CRABS-Guy N Smith. Second in a surprisingly long series about radiation affected crabs grown to enormous size with a vendetta against mankind.
Absurd in the extreme, but an uncomplicated read with lots of raunchy sex and gruesome deaths to keep the story moving. |

Fiction: THE HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG-Andre Dubus 111. Great book about two disparate people trying to get the Brass ing. Made into an exceptional film with Ben Kingsley and Jennifer Connally. Non-Fiction. KISSTORY 2. A Huge Coffee Table style book on just about ALL the products/memorabilia the Rock group KISS has done over the decades. Words will fail You... |
Devolution - by Max Brooks
Final Girls - by Riley Sager These were the last two I've read, and I really enjoyed them both. Highly recommend either one. |
ORDEAL-William W Johnstone. Most of WWJ's books are written in an Ultra-Conservative bent with blame being thrown to Bleeding Heart Liberals for just about every Societal ill. In this one, a group of older War Vets take a hiking trip in a remote Wilderness where a recent Jailbreak has occurred with the Cons terrorizing Camping grounds full of civilians.
It's a decent idea and not a bad read, but Johnstone seems to relish the Criminal perversions and the token Liberal with the Vets is SO DAMN annoying, You almost wish the cons could get ahold of him. |

DRACULA:THE CONNOISSEUR'S GUIDE-Leonard Wolf

THE WORLD'S MOST DANGEROUS PLACES-Robert Young Pelton, Coskun Aral and "Wink" Dulles.
Somewhat amusing travelogue by Fielding Worldwide Inc about how to get to, get out and what You might expect should You decide to travel to, say, Afghanistan, Colombia, Bosnia or Nigeria etc. This copy was published in the late 90's, so in some cases, the climate may have changed. |
Halloween 2 by Jack Martin. If you didn't guess its a novelization of the film Halloween 2. I'm 4 chapters in. So far nothing to different from the film except it keeps saying 2 murders in the 60s I know 1 is Judith Myers I cant think what the other means? I'm going to read Interview With the Vampire next. I have never read it or seen the film adaption but people tell me its really good.
