Haunted Houses

|
I went in Ripley's Haunted Adventure the other day...it was really the first haunted house I'd been in. The only thing I didn't like is that they threw water on my face. And the bridge thing...I didn't really like that either. The thing around the bridge was going around really fast, and it was lit up and I had to close my eyes to get past it because I felt like I was going to fall...it made me dizzy. :o Everything else was good though. At the end, a guy came after me with a chainsaw. :p
|
I wish I could make my own haunted house...but around here, I wouldn't make any money with one.

yeah kentucky doesnt sound like there would be many halloween fans.
the spinning tunnell effect is cool |
There's a haunted trail an hour from here called "Pinhead's Graveyard", where assorted horror movie characters (Jason, Michael Myers, Leatherface, etc.) jump out and chase you in the dark.

Phobia is always good tho they repeated have the same things year after year.... |
Phobia was cool, i only went a couple of times so it never got too old. Remeber the clown scene?? or was it the michael myers scene?? the whole process of a haunted house is fun, get together with your friends, find a couple you want to go to , get there, wait outside in the cold in a long ass line waiting and anticipating, then after ten minutes of horror....its done!
|
Remember when they used the some of the tracks on Smells Like Children in some of those scenes?
We were supposed to be scared but were instead like "Hey, i know this song"....haha....goodtimes... |
Scream in the Dark used to be a good one. Its not around anymore. They had good mazes. Can be a real bitch in the dark.
Also a long straight hallway with slanted walls. The walls would be slanted in the same direction. They were to the right. There was a strobe light at the end of the hallway and the walls were painted black and white[in square sections.] So..... with the walls slanted, your walking off balance. The strobe is flashing and you cant tell if a black panel is there or an empty space. Sometimes you reach for a panel to steady your balance and its not there.Sending me stumbling a couple times and sometimes somebody jumps out at you. The first one that jumped out got the heart rate going. Pretty cool effect on the senses. |
there is this haunted trail kinda thing here as well..........but i live in Ms. (in the middle of nowhere......so imagin loading onto an old rickety school bus and travelling down into the woods for like 30 minutes.......well you get there and there is a trail cut into the woods that has all sorts of props and what not all over it and people umping out at you and such......anyway it ends in this old rickety barn and more of the same.....its coo......but the only problem i had was going and when i got there i knew every single one of the people in costume........every time we would get somewhere new the people would jump out and see me and be like.....HEY MAN!!!! wasup what did we do in class and all that shit......completely ruined the effect.......but cool idea nonetheless:( :(

Next month sometime I'm supposed to go to King's Island with my cousin(I guess she still wants to go, anyway...) and they have Fear Fest...we wanted to go just for the haunted mazes. :D

My friend Bill and I help put together a haunted house every year. We donate part of the money to the PTO, Youth League, and the HS Drama Club in return for their helping out. It is a ton of work! and we start planning right after the first of the year. We don't charge an admission fee but we do ask for donations. Most people do give $2-$3 bucks or more. The PTO and Youth league, and drama club set up concessions and help run the props or be actors. Each night we pool the money and split it equally. Last year we cleared almost $1500 the weekend before Halloween, it was our best year to date.
We got a write up in the paper last year, and I think that probably helped a lot, but word-of-mouth is the best advertisement. I talked to the editor of the paper again this year and told him about running a story of how while working on the haunt we have had a lot of strange goings on, noises, cold chills, stuff being moved, lights left on that sort of stuff. One of the kids who helps on the high school paper is going to write it, and they are going to publish it in the school paper. The local paper wants to take pictures of some of the actors in costume and show us presenting checks to the PTO/Youth league, etc... We have only one real problem. There is a relatively small college in our area, (about 3,000 students) and some of them will show up, some what inebriated, (which itself is not the problem) but they don't usually donate any money, and we have had them break, and even steal some of the props. I hoping to talk to the University's paper about running a story about our haunt and the charity aspect of it, to hopefully get a little more donations from the students as they come thru. One of the best parts is the party we have the weekend after Halloween, we decorate the place with a lot of the props, and fog and we all have a really good time. |
I know I posted this before in a similar thread but, I can't find the thread so here it is again. It's called a dot room and it is one of the easiest and most effective scenes. This year we are hanging self adhesive dots on masonary string suspended from the ceiling too, it gives the look like the dots are floating in the air. When you get a few people in there moving things around it is an awsome effect.

We called this room the meat market

I havent gone to one in a long time because of the price. Its in between 10 and 25 bucks to go through one here, thats bullshit, Id rather get a hit of X and trip my tits off.
|
This was part of the Jeepers Creepers scene. This year our theme is House of the Dead, you guessed it tons of Zombies, and with Shaun of the Dead coming out were hoping it will be really popular.
|
Now that would be something to see. Tripping your tits off.
