Most disturbing film you have ever seen

This really doesnt fall into a category so I put it here.

What is the most disturbing film you have ever seen, it doesnt have to be horror.

The reason I ask is I just picked up a indie called Family Potraits, glass eye pix prod. directed by Douglas Buck. Its 3 short films but the first "Cutting moments" is quite disturbing. It has been awhile since I have seen something that actually made me cringe, but this one did.

Basically with out spoiling it, its about a family in the burbs in a downward spiral into insanity, including child abuse and self mutilitation-BIG TIME.

I think most if not all women will have trouble watching this film, but I think that it is very good.

That is the first movie that I have seen that I argee with, but I believe Cannibal Holocaust has to be the most disturbing movie possibily ever made...the entire thing is rape, graphic flesh eatting, and real animal torture...it is the only fictional film that actually disturbs me.

bwind22 10-07-2004 08:49 PM

Kids, Requiem for a Dream, Cannibal Holocaust, Bad Lieutenant, Storytelling

Not neccesarily in that order...

Don't tell me they actually tortured animals in the making of the film. That pisses me off.

bwind22 10-08-2004 07:17 AM

Not really torture, more like butcher them on camera. Still pretty brutal though.

I have a great story for Bad Lieutenant, I rented this on Thanksgiving not nowing what it was about, the uncut version too. Can you see my whole family at my house sitting around eating dinner and watching Harvey Keitels wanker hanging out. I felt like such an ass. I amused myself though.

Shit man, that's tame compared to the most recent ones. In one of the more recent American beheading videos (I'm not sure which one), the guy is actually still trying to breath as they lop his head off. It sounds like a pig squeeling, for God's sake. Very, very disturbing.

coffinbaby 10-08-2004 03:10 PM

how do i see that, whats the link?

moviebuff 10-08-2004 03:39 PM

My girlfriend downloaded and showed it to me. I had seen a snuff scene before and really didnt enjoy. It's the kind of things you should only see if you happen to be there and hope you never do.

You are enttitled to an opinion, but so am I... And mine is that none of those movies are even remotely disturbing compared to what else is being discussed in this thread. Butterfly Effect? Wtf? And Watership Down? Really? It's about a rabbit for God's sake! (Great book though, just not disturbing.)

The only thing disturbing about Godsend, other than the fact that I paid to see it, was that shit like could potentially start happening....

I won't watch snuff. I'm not squeamish about it, despite the fact that it's really happening, but the fact that it's real is the reason. Way I see it, if that were my dad or other relative or friend or me, I wouldn't want the video of me getting offed in some gruesome manner to be random KaZaA fodder for people to dl.

agreed. must be hard enough for the friends and family to know that a person they love's death was captured on video, but to also know that it's being downloaded to satisfy people's morbid curiosity... just ugh...

hellfire1 10-08-2004 09:07 PM

about snuff... another movie i found disturbing is a spanish film called "tesis". really good and freaky film.

ichi the killer 10-09-2004 05:30 AM

2 of the most disturbing films.

Most disturbing film? Has to be "Men behind the sun". But another contender "Dirty Dancing" ( My wifes favourite film)
