games that have ruled my life
sorry guys
i know that i have been gone for a while but it is for good reason.............i recently acquired the new game grand theft auto (san andreas ) for PS2 that ruled my life for like 2 weeks and now HALO 2 WOOT!!! so i might continue to stay gone for a while sorry :( :( :D :D |
I also have purchased both of these games....but I still find time to spend with my extended family here at HDC. Shame on you Mirth for forsaking your virtual family for some cell shading and pixcels.
|
never really played games THAT much. The closest I came was when I downloaded the rom to Crono Trigger and I played it continually until I beat it.
|
The only games that have ruled my life have been:
The Legend of Zelda (NES) Super Mario Bros. (NES) Mario Kart (SNES) Street Fighter 2 (SNES) Mortal Kombat 2 (SNES) |

Hooray! Good to hear from you Mirth. And just come on and say "Hey!" You Ass! lol
My friends are playing GTA:SA as we speak. Pretty fun on multiplayer and some pretty fun stuff but i couldnt play it that long lol. It would get old after about 2 days for me.. |
Morrowind:the elder scrolls III
totally addicting |

i saw the dude slappin the hooker and knew that shit was for me! :D :D <~xboxer GRRrrrRRR RRRr rrrr  |
Diablo 2....
Then i swore off games that intense....i cant get into games that far anymore....too much of a life i guess...*shrug* |

have to agree... D2 was extremely addictive I really hope Diablo 3 is made. |
The game i KNOW will turn my wife into a widow:
Half-Life 2. I have already eaten up entire evenings playing CS:Source, now i cant friggin wait to play Gordon again. The Spectacled Nerd in me looks up to his willingness to shoot things and blow them up until they are dead. |
Diablo 2, Baldur's Gate I&2, Final Fantasy 6. I really want to try FF10
|
Alien Vs Predator 2 I played........ too much, just before the movie was released.
|
out of all the games I've played Doom1&2 on the lan, Diablo and CS are probably the most adictive I've played. I've had 7 or 8 hour sessions of CS through the night.
|
Anyone here liked Spiderman 2? It has its flaws but it's a pretty impressive game overall. I'm afraid of heights and there is no sensation like diving from the top of the Empire State building!

HORRORFIEND: we park our cars in the same garage - nice to see another fan of Nintendo creations in the face of all this macho PS2 third-person-blasting shit.
Having said that, Burnout 3 is the best driver ever made... toe-curlingly intense experiences like this remind you why you play computer games in the first place. The new Grand Theft Auto is overrated and distinctly unimpressive - more of the same would be fair enough, but the new 90's setting is bland (early in the game anyway) and the little touches like getting tattoos and running around in your underwear soon wear thin... |
I thought Quake 1 and 2 were kind of fun for the graphics ..
but I would just go into god mode and run around looking at things .. i get bored playing them. I dont have time to sit in front of a PC and play games .. too much to do .. |

lol yeah. another one I'd play for hours was Hexen.... now If only that game would get an update and re-release. That'd be potential for an awesome game :) |
RULED my life?
Hmmm...the main offender would probably be Dungeon Siege...I could just spend hours on that, have a few minutes break, followed of course by more hours...I eagerly await the sequel, which looks incredible so far. (Arioch, if you liked diablo, you might wanna have a look at DS.) I've also put a lot of time into: *Shining Force (Sega 16-bit), this game showed me that not all strategy games sucked, through means of an interesting battle system, likeable characters and a simple, yet enthralling storyline. *Half-Life (Til' I finished it)...I wasn't initially impressed...but about 20-30 minutes in, the bitch owned me. *Donkey Kong on gameboy (AWESOME game), took me only three days of intermittent playing to get through it, but this motherfucker sure sucked you in. *Record of Lodoss war (dreamcast R.I.P) The free roaming, and use of hack/slash and magic approach to an rpg just worked so well. Wonderful looking game..."interesting" plot and back-story.., good skills advancement and weapon upgrade system that was easy to use and understand, and some of the biggest, meanest bosses I've ever encountered. After playing this, I've been wanting to see the manga upon which it was based since. I EASILY spent hours on this game at a time, yet it always seemed like minutes. Another one that lingered in my mind after I'd stopped playing. *Ghouls and Ghosts (Sega 16-bit) "ruled" only in that ever time I played it, something infuriated me just enough to make myself go on...as though just to spite the game itself, treating it like a malevolent enemy that had laughed at my many failed attempts...notoriously difficult...but the best fun to have friends take turns. *Tetris...let me explain that...apart from playing on and on, just trying to beat it, which I eventually did, at least on the gameboy version, I also found that I liked to mentally "practice" the game during this time, it was like I had tetris scenarios running through my head...it was a little disturbing. *Crash Team Racing (PS1) The single player mission was pretty decent, and drew me in somewhat, also having those levels that infuriated me enough to force myself to beat them...but the most time spent of all on this game would be the battle levels, my girl and I got so good at doing this, that we could literally spend over an hour before a victor emerged...and then it'd be time for the rematch...SO fun...my favourite "cart" game ever. *Max Payne 1, the sequel never came close to how the first one kept me glued. The storyline, the twists, the action sequences, the ingame narrative - all excellent. *Bomberman World (arcade) - Most coins spent on a videogame, ever. Fun, simple game - so addictive. *Flashback: The quest for identity. Words cannot do this game enough justice...it was just a work of art. Not many 16-bit games had me as obsessed as this one did... Although it had what must have been one of the most dissapointing sequels EVER, Flashback remains one of my top 5 games on any format. |
ps: Shouldn't this be in the "GAMES" area?
Funny that a mod has posted here, oblivious to this... |
Halo 2 beckons me now.
newb is signed off. |

And good point about the moving of this thread..... |
There was an expansion pack to DS set in another time...I never saw it myself, but I plan on picking it up at SOME point...
Anyone actually PLAY any of the other games I mentioned??? |
Half life, Ghouls and Ghosts, tetris and Max payne, i have played.
I also was addicted to these for quite some time. I could get you some mod links for hl.... wait.. Deja vu....:D |
I've played through about 20 HL SP mods now man...
The best being They Hunger, and the spaceship one by the same guy. I loved "CASE CLOSED" 'til I got killed in the end, and the other ones based on HL (without different graphics) were all quite good too, like "azure sheep". The rest either had bug issues, froze, shut off as soon as played, didn't work, had pathetic repetetive or unplayable maps, and/or overall very poor design. There's still plenty out there, but I'm over it for now...I wonder if anyone or any site out there has a collection of all the simgleplayer halflife mods....I'd probably do that.... |
ok after much more playing and diliberating all i can say is HALO 2.............

|
Agreed.....Halo 2 is indeed a good game. Not a huge step up from the original....other than multi-play...which I haven't tried out just yet...but the graphics are just slightly better than Halo 1..[ thats not a bad thing considering H1 had some sweet graphics}....dual weapons is pretty cool.....vehicles handle a little better....playing as one of the covenant is also very cool......BTW...is it cool for a 46 year old man to use the word cool?
As soon as I finish single play I shall try out the multi-play...must practice...still can't get used to playing FPS with a gamepad instead of mouse and keyboard....will surely get my ass kicked in multi-play...by a 12 year old.....fucking little punks. |
is this halo 2 on console? when's it out on the PC?
|
I just downloaded Americas Army and started playing it.It looks pretty cool, does anyone else play this?
|
The only games that ruled my life were FF7 and Star ocean 2.
