You have the weirdest fuckin' picks I've ever read.

Jim Ward? Sparta's first album he could barely sing. He yelled until they're new album where his singing got ten times better.

David Draiman?

Does Chuck D even sing?

where can I hear some of your chops?

Tat2 01-03-2005 12:19 PM

Nobody compares to...

Alice Cooper!

If you are talking about Artists with a horror theme (lyrics, show, costume, etc...), then Alice Cooper is the King...over the top.

kpropain 01-03-2005 12:48 PM

I also meant to add Rob Halford and King Diamond to my list.

Ummmm, helloooo...the title of the thread says NADA about favorite singers! Singers and Vocalists are two totally seperate skills/talents.

Sorry dude...but if the title of the thread read, "Top Singers," I would've listed a whole slew of different people.

My list is accurately compiled of vocalists/frontmen (women).

Just to let you know...screaming takes alot more talent and vocal concentration than most people give screamers credit for, to do it in a controlled state where it sounds worth a shit is very fucking hard...

Very well said. Not many people understand or agree with that.

I do, however, 100+%

And those people would be considered VOCALISTS!

A singer would be fucking Celine Dion or Elton John.

Hate_Breeder 01-04-2005 02:58 PM

Dani Filth has a crazy ass voice. He can go from a low growl to a high shriek in an instant. I think Mr. Carpe Noctem would have to agree..

Just to let you know, screaming does take talent. But singing takes a whole lot more. There is only so many notes that you can scream, and they're is so many more that you can sing.

The way most singers start out is by screaming (aka Jim Ward), All his singing in At The drive-in was just screaming. Not saying it was bad, but they're was a reason why they had a REAL singer.

Jim has a good voice and like a real musician he keeps getting better.

More people can scream than sing ( I mean, really sing)

I agree. I think Anthony Keidis is a good example as well. I personally think as he matured (both musically and biologically) he turned himself into a pretty good singerl. Whereas when he first started out...he was just a mere vocalist or frontman with not much depth.

I do think that Jim Morrison has a good voice, and the Door were a good band.

BUT, I think Jim Morrison's poems and lyric's are HIGHLY over-rated. Just because you're messed up on acid don't mean your more creative. It means that your thoughts aren't going to make any sense.

Over all, I think Jim Morrison is over-rated. He was more of a junkie than a musican. Thats my two cents. If its worth anything
