The Exorcist. I saw it in the theater when it came out (I was around the same age as Linda Blair), couldn't watch the whole thing, left, and to this day cannot watch that movie!

phantomstranger 01-31-2005 12:20 PM

1. The Exorcist
2. Night Of The Living Dead
3 The Omen
4 Alien
5. Jaws

Angra 01-31-2005 01:01 PM

"Salems Lot" and "Ju-on".

Uuuuuuuuuhhh, Mufasa!!

IDrinkYourBlood 01-31-2005 01:53 PM

I'd go with TCM and Halloween. Those scared me the most I think.

42ndStreetFreak 01-31-2005 01:58 PM

The original "The Haunting".

filmmaker2 01-31-2005 08:34 PM

I'll put in my vote again for "Lemora" (1975)

Scariest freaking thing I ever saw. Seriously messed up! You'll love it.

Sedated_replica 01-31-2005 08:38 PM

I thought "Last House on the Left" was the scariest for me. I might get bashed. But something is fucked up about watching girls get raped. The acting in that scene was alittle too real

slasherman 02-01-2005 01:44 AM

When I was "little" I found "The Changeling" pretty scary...but I guess "RIngu" have to be the most scary of all time...

AUSTIN316426808 02-01-2005 02:14 AM

I'm changing my answer to Jurassic Park because I saw it when I was 8 or 9 something like that and it's the only movie that really scared me.

gnarly 02-01-2005 02:48 AM

I don't think it's scary it just spooks me a little.

Australians don't believe in God? not that you're suppose to or anything.

urgeok 02-01-2005 03:14 AM

when i was a kid, Tales from the Crypt made me walk out of the theatre i was so scared shitless. (this is the old UK movie .. not the TV show or movies spawned by it)

I cant say i've found anything scary since ..

Actially ...there was a made for TV movie called the Norliss Tapes .. that scared me too ..probably around the same time as Crypt.

The Mothman 02-01-2005 05:16 AM

does anyone remember that old show "Tales From The Dark Side"? that used to scare me alot. when I was little.

Hate_Breeder 02-01-2005 06:31 AM

The Mothman Prophecies wasnt even a real "horror" movie was it?

The Mothman 02-01-2005 07:20 AM

technically it was. It wasn't bloody or like any other typical horror film, but it was scary as hell.

Angra 02-01-2005 07:46 AM

I didnīt find "Mothman prophecies" scary at all?

I must be a hard ass...

Vodstok 02-01-2005 08:26 AM

go here:
http://scaredyet.net/movies/exorc.aspx

It explains why you dont have to be religious to find the exorcist scary. i am an athiest, i have never been at all religious, and the movie scares the shit out of me.

Exorcist, night of the living dead, and alien all tie for me.

There's still only one movie that absolutely scares the shit out of me. When I watch the new horror movies coming out, I don't get scared at all. Not even a little adrenalin rush. It's pretty disappointing, actually. I keep waiting for that movie that'll come along and make me feel like The Exorcist did, like turning every light in the house on, sleeping with the lights on, etc.

That will probably never happen... :( WUAAAAAAAAAH!!!:(

Iīm setteling with movies that can make the hair on my neck to rise. Those are hard enough to find. Looking for movies that will freak me out is a total waste of time. Iīm too old and hardened. :(

Vodstok 02-01-2005 08:45 AM

These days i settle for those that have good elements, or can at least make me cringe.

Audition made me cringe. I can take a decent amount of pain, but it think i draw the line WAY the fuck before getting my foot cut off with wire.

I would rather not lap up someone else's puke either.

LMAO.

No, she wasnīt even THAT good looking.

taylorsmommy 02-01-2005 08:52 AM

I haven't even seen any lately that make the hair on my neck rise or made me cringe!! Geez, maybe I have become a hard-ass!!:D

Only Japanese movies has done that to me lately...... But just a few out of around 30. :(

Thatīs exactly what iīm talking about. Creepy moments.
thatīs what you hope to get out of a horror movie when you get older.... Itīs kinda sad, isnīt it? :(

When you finaly get old enough to enjoy horror movies, you canīt get scared anymore...... And then you die..

Vodstok 02-01-2005 11:17 AM

They need to start wiring chairs in movie theaters again. if i had 100 volts burst into my ass every time the dead chick in the grduge started making that burping noise, im pretty sure i would have been scared.

Okay. I actually thought that was pretty creepy in the original Ju-on movies.

But then let me ask you this. Wich scene in a movie has given you the creeps? What do you find Creepy?

It obviously isnīt the same as me. :)

Letīs hear!

BH14 02-01-2005 11:46 AM

I too thought Ju-On was very good. creepy lady, spooky boy and awesome sound effects can give me more chills than a slasher film with a bunch of predictable pop outs. i also was more interested in the ju-on plot as well. Seeing Ju-On made me want to see the Grudge now.

getting scared never was neccessary for me to enjoy a horror movie ... i like a creepy atmosphere and things that suprise me ..
and gratuitous nudity.

Vodstok 02-01-2005 12:05 PM

Eventually it was just another fun movie for me, but the new Dawn of the Dead had me sweating the first time i saw it in the theater.

When it comes to zombies, i have had enough freaky-ass dreams that i expect to walk out of the theater and see people running screaming from them, so that helps the movie have a lot of impact.

Creepy atmosphere, HELL YES!!! But for me, a creepy atmosphere isnīt enough to hold up a horror movie ("Session 9" is a perfect example of that). Itīs like a bass in a song. Without it the rest will be shit.
But what will you call the scene in Ju-on where the ghost comes crawling down the stairs? Itīs not just creepy atmosphere itīs..... Just plain creepy, i think. And stuff like that also has to be there for it to be a good creepy horror movie. Without it i will be dissapointed no matter what happens. Thatīs for sure.

I know it sounds kinda harsh, but i really love to be creeped out! ;)

bwind22 02-01-2005 12:52 PM

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)

As for the newer stuff, I liked the new DotD, it was pretty intese all the way through. (Especially the first part where suburbia is in shambles.)

The first part of Jeepers Creepers was headed in the right direction.

I liked the scene where the guy in 28 Days Later walks out of the hospital into the deserted streets and city. That was pretty eerie.

TCM takes the cake though with its gritty realism and brutal nature. Last House on the Left isnt far behind... Very disturbing.

I must admit that was exciting. But i didnīt find it as exciting as "Saw". But non of those two movies creeped me out...

Come on then, you bastards.

Yes, yes, YES!!! That snotty nose will haunt me forever in my dreams. :D LOL

EXTR3MIST 02-01-2005 01:25 PM

Good point - that scene is now a classic: who would have thought a simple straight-to-camera desperate, doomed outpouring of terror would have proved so effective?

The Mothman 02-02-2005 05:26 AM

I dunno guys. I didnt find halloween or the excorcist that scary either, but something about it being a true story and all scared the shit out of me. plus there was something about the music that just got to me.
