Looking for Something Good

I was talking with one of my friends today and we were saying that there are really no new good horror movies out on DVD or video. I just saw "Dead Birds" which was good and I'm going to pick up "Toolbox Murders" with a few days but does anyone know any other good horror out or coming out on DVD. I know there are a few old movies I plan on picking up but I'm looking for something newer and there doesn't seem to be anything good.

If anyone has any suggestions it would be great.

Uhmm... Well I could rattle off a couple hundred but how about if you narrow it down a bit. What kind of horror are you looking for?

More like a serial killer movie...
"Crimson Rivers 2: Angels of the Apocalypse"....if your not seen the first .....start with that..

I'm really just looking for something scary. Maybe along the lines of either zombie/vampire or slasher.

Because the guy was asking for scary movies and vampire movies and that one is by far the scariess vampire movie iŽve ever seen.
Maybe except for this one:

When i was about 13 years old (around 1989) I saw this horror movie on tv, wich i was actually too scared to watch, so i only remember VERY small bits from it. Here goes nothing:

1. The movie is either from the 80s or 70s and its NOT "Pet Cemetary"

2. (Around the beginning i think) A man is walking through a cemetary at night and suddenly a person is bursting up from one of the graves 20 feets up in the air. (might be a vampire)

3. At the end of the movie (just before the credits begins to roll) our hero is hugging this lady, and while doing that they keeps slowly turning around and around. Then suddenly the guy stops and stares right into the camera (maybe he is bitten, i cant remember). The end.

:D

Good vampire movies are hard to come by. Personally, I like the ones with more brutal bloodthirsty vampire as opposed to the lovey dovey kinds, but here's a few good movies of each type of vamp...

Brutal Vampires
Dracula 2000
From Dusk Til Dawn

Lovey Dovey Vampires
Interview with the Vampire
Bram Stoker's Dracula

Classic Vampires
Nosferatu
Dracula (Bela Lugosi)

There's a lot of good zombie movies out there. Some are a bit funnier and some are more scary, but for the most part, they generally tend to kick ass.

Funnier Zombies
Shaun of the Dead
Return of the Living Dead
Return of the Living Dead 2
Demons
Demons 2

Scarier Zombies
Night of the Living Dead (Original or remake)
Dawn of the Dead (Original or remake)
Day of the Dead
28 Days Later

As for slashers, I'm sure you've figured out that this category is very hit or miss. Some are great and some just plain suck. It all boils down to personal taste, but here's a few I like...

The Halloween Series
Friday the 13th
Friday the 13th II
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Original or remake)
Wrong Turn
Psycho

That should start you off. I'm sure you've seen some of those, but they are basically all must-see's for the informed horror fan.

In order to get the most out of a Horror Flick, you gotta set the ambient mood right. It don't do any horror movie justice to watch it in bright sunlight with the washing machine going, kids running in and out and the phone ringing. With the Right Atmosphere, even marginally "scary" movies will be a bit more...intense.

At night with the lights off or low, the sound up (Surround is best)with no phone and no distractions, try these:

The Exorcist
The Ugly
Session 9
The Hills Have Eyes
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer
