Best Horror this year?

Well, we're over half way through 2005. There has been tons of horror movies released, what are everyones favourites as yet?

Mine would have to be Land of the Dead so far. Ill probably remember better as the thread rolls on though...

hmmm difficult....maybe ...fuck I cant remember..... Dvd or at the cinema ?

bwind22 07-03-2005 09:40 PM

I can't think of 1 good film that's been released to theatres in 2005. I guess Land of teh Dead would have to be the best so far, but it was disappointing and it doesn't really have any competition.

You're strictly referring to horror films right? If so I agree.

bwind22 07-03-2005 11:01 PM

Considering that the thread is titled, 'Best horror this year', yes, I am referring specifically to horror films.

feral cat 07-04-2005 07:49 AM

Nothing reallt springs to mind that came out this year so far, I am in the UK so have yet to see what Land of the dead is like

Yellow Jacket 07-04-2005 07:52 AM

I haven' seen Land of the Dead yet (*sob*) and the rest of the movies released this year pretty much sucked in my opinion (typical.) So, I'll get back to u on this one.

zwoti 07-04-2005 09:24 AM

haute tension

Hide and Seek. But that'll probably change once I see Land of the Dead, Haute Tension, and Dark Water.

I thought it was great,it's the best horror of the last couple of years imo.

Dawn remake,TCM remake,The Grudge,Hide and Seek,Alone in the Dark,House of the Dead,Freddy Vs. Jason yada yada yada...

I can't think of any over the last couple years that can really compare with it but that's just my opinion.

Anybody agree or am I reaching?

I think "Haute tension" is overhyped.

But of course... I feel the same about "TCM". :D

Damn...either you or me misunderstood Sasherman's question...Probably me.

I dont know what he meant, but I thought he was asking if I meant only theatrical realeases, or including direct-to-video. Oh well:)

the grudge was terrible. the only thing that remotely scared me in that film was when that friggin girl slid down the stairs, thats it. i think its just cause im scared of small children in general.

i would have to say land of the dead so far. i havent ventured to see haute tension yet because it wasnt released in any theaters near me. i suppose ill have to one of these days.

Kinski's Ghost 07-12-2005 03:13 PM

Theatrically, Land of the Dead. It certainly wasn't the masterpiece everyone expected but it was really entertaining. Now if were talking video releases too, I say Dead Birds.
