The Skeleton Key

I just caught the end of a trailer for this film. I hadn't even heard of it before, has anyone? If so, will it be any good?

The_Return 07-20-2005 03:11 PM

I doubt it'll be good, looks like the typical modern day horror drivel.

ABnormaL 07-20-2005 03:21 PM

Yeah, from what I caught of it, it seemed that way. I also did a search on imdb and a review on there said it was predictable. *sighs* When is the proper horror going to hit the cinemas?

My bet it'll start getting better in a few years...between 5-10, my bet.

Really? What makes you say that?

AUSTIN316426808 07-26-2005 06:01 AM

Saw the trailer when I went to see Devil's Rejects and it looked like it could be decent. Ghost story on an old Louisiana plantation which I know for a fact are very creepy.

The trailer did however say something lame like or at least close to...''There are many roads that lead to Terrebonne Parrish Louisiana but once you're there....there's no way out.''

Tony 07-27-2005 04:51 AM

I like how the trailer has an old school feel to it but this movie is just going to be a typical and predictable jump fest in my opinion.

g star 07-27-2005 05:55 AM

it's ironic that back in the day straight to video releases were crapfests and the good stuff made it into theatres. now it's the complete opposite. most good horror movies i've seen in the past few years have been straight to video while the theatres are feeding us poop sandwiches.
as far as skelton key goes, i think it looks good. but then again 9 out of the last 10 horror trailers i've seen have looked good and the actual fim ended up sucking. maybe if hollywood spent as much consideration on the actual film as they do on the trailers we wouldn't be having this conversation.

ABnormaL 07-27-2005 06:37 AM

Thanks for the opinions. I had only caught the last few seconds of the trailer at the time, now Ive seen a bit more of it, it does seem like it could be another predictable, soft, horror movie.
There doesn't seem to be anything good to come of that genre recently.
I may just wait till The Skeleton Key comes to dvd and I'll rent it, unless you guys post some good reviews on it, I doubt I'll see it in the cinema.

LilMissScareAll 08-01-2005 07:09 PM

Me & my mom have already planned on seeing it... looks good from what I can tell but who knows.

barbra 08-03-2005 07:16 PM

everything is predictable, you can turn on the radio and get predictable.

it might be creepy

jenna26 08-03-2005 08:01 PM

I just saw the trailer today and it actually looks like it could be watchable. I'll give it chance once it hits DVD (of course, I watch just about everything, so that doesn't say much).

Yellow Jacket 08-04-2005 08:52 AM

Wasn't there a thread about this movie in this forum already? Why yes there was! It was made by friday13thfan. So, next time you're going to talk about an upcoming movie like Skeleton Key, look through the forum first.

Oh, if you're wondering my opinion about the flick, I don't think it's going to be that good. I mean, Kate Hudson in a horror flick. This is probably going to be a laughable flick (meaning it's going to be bad.)

bloodrayne 08-04-2005 10:44 PM

I'll go see it..I'm a horror addict...I can't help myself..

AUSTIN316426808 08-05-2005 07:45 AM

I saw a tv spot for it yesterday, looked ok I'm not expecting anything more than a just a plain ghost story.

p.s.
I don't know about anybody else but the they didn't choose the house the house choose them story is getting lame.

1428elmstreet 08-07-2005 03:35 AM

if im right...i think the skeleton key is from the makers of the ring....it looks ok to me....id still rather watch the exorcism of emily rose though, cant wait for it to come out

Aasiyan 08-08-2005 06:51 PM

Well, I don't think it's going to be a ghost story exactly. I'm thinking some kind of voodoo or something. I'm sure the end will be pretty crazy. Make you have to think about the whole movie all over again, I'm sure. ;)

SKELETON KEY SUCKSSSSSSSS

LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE STUPID LIKE THE GRUDGE, BUT MAYBE IN THIS MOVIE THERE WON'T BE A GIANT MUPPET COMING OUT OF THE WALLS HOLLA.....................

The_Return 08-15-2005 05:23 PM

It wasnt actually that bad....not great by any means, but Ive seen worse latly.

phantomstranger 08-16-2005 09:40 PM

If your a fan of Rob Zombie type blood, violence and carnage then this is NOT the movie for you. If you like atmospheric thrillers with supernatural overtones then this is your movie. Well acted, nicely filmed with a Val Lewton type of atmosphere. It's creepy and fun, a little slow but very entertaining. I liked it.

pinkfloyd45769 08-17-2005 07:10 AM

Im a big fan of Kate Hudson, so ill check it out.Im not sure she is the right actress for a horror flick, but still she is a good actress sometimes thats all it takes! Ill probably rent it though it definitely wont have me rushing to the theatre.

For the most part, she wasnt bad. Mediocre, I suppose. But she was really good at the end.

pinkfloyd45769 08-17-2005 07:14 AM

So you have seen it? Im glad to hear she wasnt bad! I love her cant help it:)

Dont get me wrong, she wasnt Oscar-worthy or anything...but I can say I was expecting her to be alot worse, thats for sure.

jenna26 08-17-2005 10:44 AM

I've seen it. It wasn't bad exactly and I did like the ending. Up until that point I wasn't impressed, though. The acting was fine, but I just couldn't get into it. It also could have to do with the fact that I was surrounded by idiots that were busy disrupting my viewing pleasure.:D

urgeok 08-17-2005 12:36 PM

it just didnt make me go 'wow'

its been a long time and i keep hoping a movie will make me go 'wow' not 'it was ok - i guess'

pinkfloyd45769 08-17-2005 12:53 PM

So is it worth going to the theatre or should i save the money and rent it?

Id say save your money. It's worth seeing, but not for the price theatres are charging, IMO.

Is this like a folklore type movie?

urgeok 08-18-2005 02:19 AM

southern gothic + Voodoo (or hoodoo in this case)

AUSTIN316426808 08-18-2005 02:47 AM

nevermind

The_Return 08-21-2005 03:06 PM

My g/f wants to see this, so Im going again on Tuesday. Not a movie Id normally care to see twice, but hey, it's better than if she wanted to go to Must Love Dogs:rolleyes:

Angra 08-22-2005 03:11 PM

It was boring and it sucked, despite the cute Kate Hudson.

I didnt really find her that attractive...looked pretty sickly in that topless scene. Nope, she definatly doesnt do it for me.

EDIT- Im not saying she's ugly or anything...just not my style.
