Last movie you watched on VHS?

for those of you who've completely switched from VHS to DVD (which I've just done now that I got my DVD recorder with the HDD), what was the last movie you watched on VHS?

wood_elf_pansy 01-15-2006 06:30 PM

mothermold 01-15-2006 10:17 PM

i've replaced all tapes with dvd's with the exception of those yet to be transfered to dvd format i.e. night of the comet,rat-man,the burning etc.

night of the comet being the last one veiwed.

bloodrayne 01-15-2006 10:24 PM

I still have all of my VHS tapes (except for the ones that I've given away) and I intend to keep them...FOREVER

We have 7 VCRs, so I suppose we will be able to watch our tapes until the last VCR gives out, because they will probably stop selling VCRs at some point...We also have one of those VCR/DVD things (It's Demon Seed's), and 4 DVD players...So, we should be pretty well set no matter what

On a side note: I still prefer VHS over DVDs...For durability mostly

The last thing we watched on VHS?...The Jerk, with Steve Martin

ShankS 01-15-2006 11:15 PM

Men of Honor: Robert De Niro & Cuba Gooding Jr. was the last vhs I watched.

I have a few tapes that are shrinkwrapped and unwatched.

cheebacheeba 01-15-2006 11:26 PM

My video store (civic) doesn't have a great range, well...overall it's ok, apart from having next to NO horror, but, their is a greater range in vhs in terms of pre-2000 video releases, so I usually go in and get 5 weekly hires at a time, and go through the video range for at least a couple of them.
Last watched was the haunted mansion, and prom night (over-rated)
I got some sci-fi lookin' thing called "Laserhawk" out too.

Spallalala 01-16-2006 02:49 AM

You didn't watch all of prom night. You feel asleep 20mins into it haha. It sucked either way..

I love our vcr. We have a good one and I try and use it heaps, ( someone threw out a big box of tapes down the road, ended up keeping most of them. HAd some good movies and cartoons in em) I use it mainly to tape cooking shows that come on..

But yeah Haunted mansion was the last one. Not bad. Coulda been better.

alkytrio666 01-16-2006 07:04 AM

Re-Animator.

I wanted to see it on Halloween, but NO rental stores around me had a copy of it-DVD OR VHS. So I finally found it at a Hollywood Video miles and miles away, and they only had it on VHS. So I nabbed it.

A couple weeks later, I bought it on DVD. I shoulda' just done that in the first place. Amazing movie.

majorbludd 01-16-2006 07:20 AM

VICTORY....starring stallone, pele, and michael caine.

AUSTIN316426808 01-16-2006 07:26 AM

I still had a VCR and VHS tapes and intended to keep 'em all and will probably buy another VCR and tapes along with dvds.

Last movie was Nightmare Before Christmas.

Taom 01-16-2006 04:21 PM

I still have a number of movies on vhs, mainly because the movie gallery has been having sales on their vhs selection since they set up shop last summer. The last working vcr is in the kids room though. I do still have my laser disc player and 50-60 ld's though. big floppy things, but you gotta love em.

Yellow Jacket 01-16-2006 04:37 PM

I have a helluva lot of VHS's, so I probably watch more VHS than DVD. Maybe not.

Curse Of The Demon

filmmaker2 01-19-2006 05:47 PM

Heyyyy, nice one, VampiClown. I have Curse of the Demon on VHS also...

Just watched "Shaun of the Dead" for the first time, about 10 minutes ago. I laughed several times but it is pretty fucking disturbing, stands on its own as a hardcore zombie flick. Wow.

Curse of the Demon in my opinion is one of the better classic films. Everyone needs to see it at least once.:D

filmmaker2 01-19-2006 06:05 PM

It's just a cool freakin' movie. And the monster they made is really cool too.

dewaholic 01-19-2006 07:29 PM

Personally, I detest dvds. I may be the only person in existance that can't stand dvd players. So until I absolutely hafta make the switch, it's VHS for me.
Last I saw on VHS was today, the Spongebob movie.

RavageRitual 01-19-2006 07:31 PM

Lost Souls

filmmaker2 01-19-2006 07:38 PM

VHS tapes are generally pretty cheap, if you happen to be on a budget (and who isn't?).

Another plus of VHS is that "original" versions of films can be found cheaply in this format (unless some Ebay seller realizes he's got something rare and prices it up like crazy). There's quite a few films now that have been altered and are not available in their original form on current formats. The Star Wars films are a great example of this.

What they said sums me up on the topic. A lot of horror flicks just look better on VHS too, the slickness of DVD just makes some effects look fuckin' stupid. Not to mention some of the poor excuses for transfers to DVD that have popped up. I'm buying a heap of VHS while its still about and cheap.... kinda reminds me of the switch from LP to CD - a lot of people will be kicking themselves over those LPs they got rid off to change to CD that are now worth a small fortune.
Last movie I watched on VHS was Invasion USA. Richard Lynch is a dope ass bad guy.

VHS RULES!

Bezenby 01-22-2006 02:51 PM

To be honest I prefer DVD, but only because I'm too lazy to lounge about waiting for videos to rewind. I must admit though that some of those eighties horror transfer look strange transferred to DVD. I've got that Offerings on DVD and if anyone's wearing red in the transfer it's like watching some psychadelic film...
